MCDS had two gold medalists represent at the Barn Hunt National this year, and we want to take a moment to celebrate the woman who has coached us since the beginning - Kristy Netzer!

From Andrea Entin & Taz:
"I’d like to say a huge thanks to my trainer Kristy Netzer. Taz and I could not have achieved this level of competition without her instruction and guidance. We have only been participating in barn hunt for just over 3 years and to have this big of a win is amazing.
Kristy is a wonderful instructor with a wealth of knowledge she uses in her teaching. She has a great ability to teach different kinds of dogs and the way they like to hunt. THANK YOU Kristy!!!!"

"Since the day we started barn hunt when Oakley was four months old, Kristy has been our instructor, friend, coach, and sometimes therapist. She has helped me understand how I need to approach each problem/hurdle as it comes. I distinctly remember at least three trials where I called Kristy from the road, asking her what the heck I should do about X, and she always had some wisdom for me. Thank you so much for your guidance, Kristy! We have come farther than I could have imagined and we couldn't have done it without you!"

It was a disappointing day. Oakley and Aquaman had an awesome start in team until they both hit litters.

Aquaman indicated a litter during his second run as well.

Litters seems to be a big issue for a lot of dogs.

I know Aqua-Dude did his best. We get to do another run tomorrow and hurdles. But I don’t see top 50 for us this year.

I’m looking to get a seatbelt for Aquaman and Toes. My car is too small for a crate and I feel like they are SO unsafe riding loose.

Any suggestions for a crash tested harness? Any advantage to having the tether attached to the headrest or seatbelt?

The boys are exploring their new bed.

Nationals 2024 This was an awesome Nationals. The event was well organized and things ran smoothly. The building was a little too warm, but it was manageable. There were 4 MCDS students there. Stephanie/Oakley, Tabitha/Brody, Andrea/Taz, and Me/Aquaman. Aquaman had the most trouble by hitting litters. He did do really well in his second round of Hurdles. Brody made it into the top 50 out of 173 dogs and he did well in the last two classes but missed a rat in the Masters class. Taz and Oakley were the superstars! Oakley won the National Grand Championship. Taz won the Games Championship. They both have a list of placements in many of the classes. I’m sure they will post their photos and awards on their pages. As always, we came home with a list of things to work on. I can’t wait for next year!

Oakley and Aquaman rocked in Team…..until they didn’t. They found 4 rats in record time and then hit litters. Such a disappointment!

This is our second Hurdle run. Much better than the first. 😋

We’re at the South East Barn Hunt Regionals. This is Aquaman’s first Hurdles run. Not too bad.
