Meet Trixie, she is a Mudi (a breed I had never heard of before I met her) and she a pretty anxious girl who shares those feelings by barking at strangers and having a hard time settling down in unfamiliar places. Trixie has been coming to work with me weekly since I became a trainer with Petsuites in August. We do a lot of rewarding calm behaviors and moving around the resort to help Trixie learn to help herself when she is feeling unsure. This was the first time, since I started working with her in August, that she has offered this behavior while secured in my office, with people talking near her. She isn’t allowed to be be near the gate if she is pacing or trying to jump out. She laid calmly like this for over 5 minutes, just listening to everything. Proud of this little lady!

This handsome boy’s name is Gryffin, he boarded with us at over the holiday weekend. His parents asked me to work with him in his loose leash walking, he had training when he was younger but needed a touch up. Look at that focus and the handsome face.

Channing here is your typical high energy, food obsessed, zero focus lab. She has to work REALLY hard to 1. Listen and look at me for any period of time. 2. Go lay down and be relatively still. 3. And the absolute hardest is not get off her bed until I free her. Even if yummy snacks are being thrown on the floor near her. You can see she does make a small break for them and really takes time to decide if she is going to continue to try and get the food OR go back to her bed.

The video is sloppy and we were working on loose leash walking and toy drive. But my manager walked in with her puppy so I changed modes. This is Lola and she is EXTREMELY dog reactive. But her mom puts in WORK and she brings her to me 4 days week. This is the result of ALL of that. We are far from perfect, but damn it, we are getting better by the day!

Meet Lola. She was found as a stray and is on her third home. When I met her very exasperated but determined mom, Lola was a crazy excited mess. Though Lola has a long way to go, I’m going to brag on both Lola and her mom. This area is where three walkways meet, there are dogs in the rooms around her and people/leashed dogs walking up and down the hallways. This focus, this is the result of Lola and her mom putting in the work! I’m just a very proud trainer! This is why I do what I do!
