Chester got some fabulous news at the vet today and is feeling so much better! He’s 8-9 years old, and all of his ailments are treatable. His difficulty walking is because of a bad back, but it isn’t causing him as much pain as I thought. It only hurts when he has a flare up, so he is on anti inflammation meds to control it. His ears were fulls of matted hair and just funk. The vet cleaned and flushed them out and he can hear so much better now! His blindness is also not as bad as we thought. He has cataracts starting and dry eyes. The drops are helping. AND THE BEST NEWS IS HE GOES TO A FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME FRIDAY!! Thank you so much Paws Crossed Dog Rescue, Inc. for helping find him a home and for just being a fabulous rescue!

Not dog related, but maybe y’all can giggle about this like I did. This is the type of constant shenanigans that go on in my house. 🤣 Also, why does my kid laughing sound like a chipmunk on helium?? At least our rescues are thoroughly used to kids and chaos when they leave.

Can anyone help with these dogs? This is where Chester was pulled from last week and Sarge was pulled from too. We have to figure something out for them ASAP. The shelter is full and this post is the extent of their advertisement. Please share or tag rescues.

Say a prayer guys, Chester isn’t doing so hot tonight. He did great today hanging out in my purse while school shopping, but took a turn for the worst tonight. Praying this sweet guy makes it through the night.

So apparently our vet was a bit off and Sarge is only 5-6 years old!! She was in that bad of shape that it made her seem so much older.

Sweet SARGE went to see the vet at Davis Animal Hospital today and we got a HUGE surprise. SARGE is NOT 12-13 years old as the Brewton Animal Hospital had said. She is only about 5-6 years old!!! She has very little tartar on her teeth and none of the "old lady dog" signs like liver spots on the skin, calloused elbows, calculus on teeth or grey hairs. She has had an EXTREMELY rough life though filled with neglect. She's been used for breeding and then abandoned on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere. Poor sweet SARGE.
SARGE also has a nasty case of kennel cough and has had to start some strong antibiotics. Hopefully she will start to feel better soon. This beautiful girl is such an angel. We hate to see her feeling like yuck.
SARGE is still looking for her forever home and is available for adoption through Phoenix Rising Rescue in Pensacola, FL.

Show me your mutts! These are my personal dogs.

❤️Toodles (Shih tzu/chihuahua) has a pretty cool story. I adopted her when she was a tiny puppy 6 years ago for my, at the time, 1 yr old daughter. After a few months someone stole her. She had been gone for 6 years, y’all! About 6 months ago she was posted by a local rescue as a stray. As soon as we picked her up she recognized me and remembered her name. She is now the most spoiled princess ever! (photo cred to Jada Baggett our wonderfully talented groomer. Hit her up for your puppy spa days)

🌟Franky is my 8 yr old bully/gargoyle/meatball mix I adopted from Brewton Animal Shelter 2 years ago and he is the most chill, loving boy ever. He is who I use to temperament test everyone else since he is completely non reactive.

🌸Sophie is my 13 yr old shepherd/pittie/chow/who the hell knows mix. Unfortunately she’s not the best with cats and she’s a grouch with most female dogs, but she was my baby before I had my human babies. This girl has my heart.

Our shelter girl was pulled and adopted from the shelter by a friend. She’s been checked out by the vet and is doing amazing in her new home.

Best news ever! The vet just called and said she is 13-14 years old like I thought. She is heartworm negative, and that is shocking because almost every dog that comes through the shelter is positive here! She doesn’t have any major issues going on and is a bit wobbly just from neglect. Her head looks swollen because there is so much scar tissue and this is also why her right eye doesn’t open much. I’m an shocked and so excited!!

A few good meals and treats after a bath and Sarge is so much more stable on her feet. I can’t wait to hear what Brewton Animal Hospital has to say about her in the morning.

Sarge is a GIRL and is no longer a shelter dog! This girl was a backyard breeder and discarded like trash when she was no longer “useful”.

Donations for her care can be made by calling Brewton Animal Hospital at (251) 867-4355 or vis Venmo LaceeSmith1291. She will go to rescue in a couple of weeks, but until then I am covering her vetting completely on my own. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

Sarge also has some kitty friends who need homes.

The orange is Kevin and he is still a bit shy, but has been neutered.

The kittens, April and May, are in the buckets and both will be spayed next week.

The kittens Mom came into rescue already pregnant so she will be spayed after her new babies are born.
