Two of our recent rescues in their new homes. It takes 2 months from start to finish. Working with all the dogs for 2 weeks in Mexico, flying them home then training and decompression for a month in foster care.
These pups have a beautiful life now and their owners are so grateful to have these sweet smart souls come into their lives.

This is our blog on Nash.."We were told he was a special pup but had no idea quite how special he is. He's brought so much joy and laughter into our home especially with his vocal skills impersonating Chewbacca. Loving his calm attitude towards kids, dogs and new people..and love watching the cogs turn with all his new experiences..a big shout out to Denise and her crew at HBB for seeing the potential in these pups..thx again.

Lots of cats have gone missing lately. This is quite common unfortunately this time of year. I live on Fifth street in Fairview and just saw a skittish coyote run by.
Please keep your cats safe and small dogs too. We live in nature.

Sweet Luna is ready to find her forever home.
This 2-year-old lab mix made the journey from Mexico back to Nelson with 3 other lucky friends.
Luna was so scared of everything when we first met her because all she knew was shelter life and her crate. She has now done a complete 180 with the love and time her foster family has given her.
She enjoys daily long walks off leash on the local trails where she and her foster brother get to explore and adventure. She’s never too far away and always looks back to make sure her humans are in sight. Excellent recall, and best of all she’s so loving and gentle.
Luna is perfect in the house; fully housetrained and can be left alone. She loves snuggling with her companions – either humans or dogs. She is quiet and calm, smart and picks up commands quickly.
Luna is grateful for this new life and is so happy now. She really just wants to please her humans and will be a wonderful addition to any family. We love her.
Spayed and fully vaccinated including rabies.

Sweet Luna is ready to find her forever home.
This 2 year old lab mix made the journey back to Nelson with 3 other lucky friends.
Luna was so scared of everything at first because all she knew was shelter life and her crate.
She has done a complete 360 now with the love and time her foster family has given her.

Tonight we had a cuddle puddle with these four. It will likely be the last time Nash and Luna see each other.
Life has changed dramatically for these two in one months time. They are resilient, loyal, happy and such loving dogs.

Nash has seen a lot of firsts during his first 4 weeks in Canada.
He sat so well at the hair salon for 1.5 hours today.
Soon he will be making the big step to his forever family that are waiting for him. He took a bit of time and patience at the beginning but he is now a wonderful, loving, loyal boy. 💗

We didn’t get a chance to post Nash on our website until today. Thank you Tracy, Julia, Sandra and Nick and Rob for spending time with this boy. He’s been in Canada now for 3 weeks and is pretty perfect in every way. Thriving on leadership, knowing his boundaries and cuddling with his foster mom and fur foster Rosie..
Today we had a very successful meet and greet with Nash’s new family and foster dog. He will soon be residing in Burton BC. They are exactly what we had hoped for. 💗
Denise is going to miss him very much. He is loyal, loving and makes you feel safe. Being able to witness this transformation is why we do what we do. It’s something that is priceless. It’s a lot of time and work at the beginning but these dogs are smart and very grateful.

Hello, my name is Luna. I was recently rescued from a shelter in Mexico after I was found in a field with my siblings, alone and hungry.
I made the long journey to Canada and now I am settling in well with my foster family.
I was very frightened and skittish when I first arrived but I quickly grew to trust my people and get comfortable with my new surroundings. I’ve regained my confidence now and I’m very loving and affectionate.
I enjoy going for walks, I’m good on leash, and I’m getting used to all the new things here like bikes, new people, and sudden surprises. If I do get suddenly spooked the biggest risk of all is that I’ll try to take off and run back home. Some dogs get aggressive when they are afraid , but not me..I’m very submissive and just try to avoid conflict.
My foster family have a dog of their own ( also rescued from where I lived in Mexico) and we get along very well and don’t even fight over food or toys.
I’m a mixed yellow lab about 2 years old with lovely blonde fur. I’m spayed, all of my vaccines are up to date, including rabies.
My foster family have grown very fond of me and were pleasantly surprised that I came fully housetrained and have not caused any trouble or damage in their home. They can leave me alone while they go out and I just sleep.
I even enjoy car rides.
I’m ok sleeping in my crate at night, though of course I’m happiest if I’m close to my family.
I’ll miss my foster parents when I find my forever home, and you’ll need to be patient for a month or so with me. But before long I’ll be your trusted companion and never leave your side.

We are still trying to adopt Wilma and Rosie out as a bonded pair. This mother/ daughter duo do everything together.
They are housetrained and love their humans.
Please share.
Consideration will be given to friends that would adopt them if they were able to see each other on a frequent basis.
These sweet 9 pound bundles of joy will bring so much love and happiness to their new family.

Lots of firsts today. First beach and boat ride. This dog has so much trust in his human. He’s always within an arms reach and will do new things so calmly and strong.

If you lost some groceries today at Safeway Nash had them taken to customer service . There are some really good things in that bag. Identify what’s in them at the Safeway customer service desk.

A little update on Wilma and Grace. They are thriving in their foster home.
Wilma ( the mom ) was a little scared of men at first but after sweet voices, good treats , and pets she is fine.
We are trying to adopt this mother/ daughter duo together. It might take a bit longer but we are giving it a shot.
They are so lovable and their fav thing to do is cuddle together on your lap.

Here’s todays update on Luna and Nash.
Denise got a little break from her boyfriend Nash and he had a fun day with Sandra. Walking the rail trails, gardening and his favourite thing cuddling next to you.
Luna the blonde lab is doing really well.
With each new day comes new sounds , sights and an abundance of love.
She is thriving now and settling into life with her foster dads and Oliver. ( previous rescue)

BONDED MOTHER & DAUGHTER

These two sweethearts mom and daughter were rescued living with their siblings living in a car in Mexico.
Both were very thin at the time of rescue but since then are thriving and very happy little bundles of joy.
These two do everything as a duo and that is why we can’t break them apart. They have been through so much and are so joyful to be around. Cuddly, lively and so fun to watch. They were little show stoppers at the San Diego airport as we had to run a long way to get to our gate. Everyone was smiling at these happy well adjusted beautiful girls. I wish I had a sign saying they were rescues.
They sleep in their pen area from 930 till 630. They are p*e pad trained and now have the freedom of a secure fenced yard to explore and do their business.
Both do this funny happy dance where they just want to be picked up and held.
Both are fully vetted and spayed and tested negative for any tick borne illnesses.
Wilma is 4 and Rose is 2. Sharing 18 pounds between them these two will add so much joy to your life.

Hey Nelson do your magic! Luna bolted from her fosters car yesterday at noon and was last seen on 8th street. She’s super shy and now extremely frightened. Please call with any sightings. We have a dog she knows well. Please do not try to catch her. We are close by.

We made it back to Canada.
These dogs have to go through a lot, from waiting in lines at the Tijuana border to flights , motel stays, and car rides. Everyone was excellent and having a much needed chill evening with LOVING fosters.
Sandra and I worked hard, had a few cries, and a lot of laughs.
Our connections in Mexico make us feel like family.
We might only do this in small bits but these little lives are changed forever.
We had a welcoming party awaiting our arrival with Oliver and Maya(two previous rescues from Maria’s)💗

Check out the before and after pic of the three.
This happened as a result of the owner getting sick and left her dogs in care of someone that did not feed them.
Fast forward 2 years and here they are healthy and happy but still no family of their own.
The orange and red dog is older and super sweet and walks gently on the leash.
We could bring him to Canada if someone wanted to adopt this sweet old loyal gem.
His name is Red..

We officially made it to Mexico today. A quick stop at Sanctuario Esperanza to say hello then loaded with enough food and water for 10 days the elevator happened to be broken at the condo where we are staying.
Needless to say we got our legs ready for the puppers.

These dogs have a big day crossing the Tijuana border each weekend in hopes of finding their forever family.

We have started the journey to Rosarito Mexico. First stop San Diego for some sun and fun before we arrive in Mexico to help our furry friends and bring back 4 lucky pups.

Wilma and Rosie are spending a day and night with Denise before she delivers them to their forever home. Together. Huge thank you to Correna for loving them and taking epic care of them during the decompression phase. #adoptdontshop
After searching for 2 hours tonight we called it and then she appeared down Horlicks point ( end of Sandra’s driveway) It took some gentle coaxing but when she realized it was us she was estatic. Huge thanks to all the participated in this search. She’s truly a loving girl that just needs a bit of love and time.
Today Rosco is going to a new foster for a few days. It will be good for him but I’m sure he thinks this is his home. I would keep them all if I could but finding a family of their own that will love them and care for them like they deserve is my mission.
SWEET ROSCO AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Rosco is a special limited edition Mexican rescue dog. He’s very athletic and loves running free on the rail trails and is excellent in the home. Great recall and has been around kids his whole life. He’s quite the cuddle bug too when on the couch next you. He’s approximately 2 years old and looking for a loving active family of his own. And we are home. Everyone was absolutely amazing.
So stopping for gas in Seattle we have a new transporter Kayty. She’s in love with Valeria. These dogs are so resilient and loving. 5 more hours!!
Look at me now. Maria rescued me with a broken hip and leg and full of mange . Hope Beyond borders brought me back to Nelson then found out I had cancer. We had just transported 4 of Mandy’s friends back to Canada when Denise walked in the door and there was blood all over. Dr. Sackney diagnosed her on a Sunday and chemo started shortly there after. The bleeding stopped and the tumour went away. This is why we do what we do. Thanks for all the donations that helped pay for this very expensive treatment. It takes an army.
UPDATE! 12 dogs have been pulled from animal control so far and hopefully more to come. A lot of awareness has been created around it all too. This video is my friend Dana who has a rescue here ” Tragic to Magic” she took 7 today.
Today we went to Animal Control. It was very difficult to see but we can’t just pretend it doesn’t exist. One of the dogs we are bringing back was rescued from there hours before it would of been too late. Most of my pictures have painted a pretty picture but I feel it’s time to show some of the real stuff. I think if we all do a little whether it’s teaching your kids to pick up trash on the beach while you are on holidays to taking a few of your vacation days and helping at a local shelter for animals or working with kids, it all makes a difference.

This is Mickey. We choose to bring him back because he is just a fun, happy little guy. He’s just over 8 months old and loves to eat, sleep and play. Loves the snow too! Available for adoption. When we stayed the night in Spokane he just cuddled next to me all night. Such a little ham!
And that’s a wrap. We made it home safely with 5 dogs. Everyone is decompressing now.
Yesterday we crossed the border into San Diego with 10 pups for an adoption event. Was a 11 hour day of organized chaos. 2 adoptions but made sone good connections and spread the word.
