Update #2: There seems to be confusion on this pup. We’d like to clear this up.
WCAC received a call from Wilco PD advising that a dog had been hit and needed assistance. They had received a call from another organization, advising that an aggressive dog had been hit by a car. Deputies went to the area and found him. He displayed no aggression, but seemed drawn towards men. When our volunteer arrived in scene, she began assessing him, also noting no aggression. After calming and realizing he was safe, he stood- obviously in pain. Volunteers stayed with him, walking him on leash for well over a mile, hoping he would lead them to his home. After stopping in the middle of the road, volunteers opened the door to their vehicle, where he hopped inside. He was taken in to temporary foster, while our team searched for rescue. Critical Care for Animal Angels stepped forward, offering to meet us at their vet to have him treated for his injuries. Before this meeting took place this morning, a young woman stepped up stating that she believed this pup belonged to her grandfather. We reached out to CCAA, letting them know this, they then posted the owner had been found.
We asked for proof of ownership, investing before we turned him over, the photo returned was of a Rottie, but was clearly not him.
Later this morning, his breathing became labored, he was rushed to another vet where they immediately began care. Beginning with x-rays, we were devastated to find the extent of his medical concerns. The x-rays revealed him having Osteosarcoma. For those unaware, this is a malignant and extremely aggressive form of bone cancer. The vet further believed that he was not hit by a car, though others believe he was.
Despite this information, we agree that he cannot be allowed to suffer as he is in extreme pain. We are desperately seeking his owners, as they should make this final decision. IF anyone knows his owners, please have them reach out. If he was dumped because they didn’t know what to do- there will be no judgment, but we need to know.
Please continue to share. Time is of the essence.

Update: Please continue to share as we are still looking for owners. He is currently at the vet to address his injuries. We are unsure how he came to be in this position so until we have the full story our priority is to get him stable, and find his owners. please check comments for flyer to spread. Thank you all!
