Forgot to post this yesterday- Gunner passed his Canine Good Citizen obedience test! Super proud of him. Truly, he might have passed it sooner if I had managed to get him in and take it. Just glad it is one more milestone ticked off the list.

Auto cover from earlier today.

Things have been busy lately and I have failed to video our training sessions, but I have to brag for a minute.
Yesterday, thanks to this dog, I was able to do my first solo shopping trip in almost a year. Despite multiple distractions he did automatic Cover, and when I was panicking and sat down he did DPT and tactile stimulation without me needing to cue him. These are the kind of results I would expect from a fully trained program SD, not a dog who has been in formal training for less than a month.
Mindyou, I like to think of myself as a decent trainer...but it helps that my dog is amazing. He has blown my expectations and goals out of the water.

Some PA practice at Wally world. Working on checking in frequently and tightening up heelwork.

20/06/2017

More fun at the park. We did lots of people watching today.

Gunner had his first real public access day today. Super proud of him. Between Best Buy, Petco, Walgreens and an outdoor cafe he has been super chill and has tasked when needed. This dog is amazing.

Stays with distractions.

Hour and a half long session today at Petsmart. We worked on lots of downstays, and greeting people appropriately. (Side note: Gunner met a family of dark-skinned people and was startled/barked at first, but was totally fine once I gave them some treats to feed him) :)

Had a lazy night tonight just practicing some obedience outside.

So today was my first day going back to work since Gunner first came home. I was a bit nervous about how he would handle being kenneled all day- but he didn't make a peep, and was a perfect gentleman when I got home.
We had a nice structured walk tonight and he is also learning to run alongside the bike- did about 1/4 mile tonight and he was a rockstar. He will be doing it off leash in no time.
He is also showing some increased muscle mass since we switched foods and he has been doing loads of exercise.
Really though, I love this dog..

Yesterday I forgot to post but we had a great hour long session at Home Depot. We did heelwork and downstays and greeted a few employees. Getting better and more confident all the time!

11/06/2017

Gunner's second day here, the weather was nasty out so we went to Petco to train indoors and refresh his obedience. He is catching on quick- we did heelwork and stays and pass by other dogs. Super proud of him. :)

Gunner's first time off leash with Jasper and Sweetie. They will be best buds in no time.

Updates.
He slept like a champ through the night, in his nice comfy kennel. Woke up this morning, went potty, had a nice Chuck It session. Went back in to relax for a bit until it got unbearably hot....so he had his first swimming lesson. He seemed to like it :)

10/06/2017

He finally arrived last night.
We had to go to a different place and recieve him via oversized baggage in the airport, but he's here.

09/06/2017

He is at the airport getting checked in. :)

09/06/2017

On his way to the airport!

09/06/2017

This is it- today's the day.
Due to recent schedule changes on both ends and higher temps recently, we were unable to book Gunner's flight on the 10th or 11th, so he is coming today.
Danyelle is jumping through every hoop thrown at her; picking up a money order early this morning, getting in to the vet as soon as they open to get his health cert, and speeding to the airport with all necessary supplies and paperwork. If all goes well he should be in the air by 2:35 in Oregon, and land here just after 11pm.

07/06/2017

Missy here.
I ordered a vest for Gunner's intro to PA work. I used Jasper as my model; I think he will be handsome in it!

06/06/2017

Missy (Gunner's future handler) here.
We are preparing to fly him here to his new home on the 11 June 2017. In the meantime I sent a fancy new kennel, with airline travel kit to his current home. As you can see here he is getting acclimated to his kennel and is super exctied to learn (thank you Danyelle Rhoy for the video). He has his vet appointment to get his health certificate later this week. We couldn't be more excited and are counting down the days!
