We still have two male mice available. I did not breed them* I took them in for somebody. That said, they’re exceptionally docile and friendly; I’ve honestly never met such calm and interactive mice!
Male mice should be housed separately. Currently these two brothers still get along very well, so I’m hoping to find them homes before that changes 🙂
They’re chunky, happy, healthy dudes who would make amazing pets. They require decent sized tanks, but much smaller than a rat cage. Slightly higher protein diets, and I highly recommend a silent wheel. They’re very sweet, I really want to find them loving homes to dote on them ❤️ 🐁

Two beans born Dec 29th. One male, one female, both darkly furred velveteen dumbos.
Both will be staying here to continue our lines.

A sad day at the rattery yesterday unfortunately. We lost a beloved little girl, Bunny, due to pregnancy complications. This is why I am so adamant that one does not get into breeding rats lightly, and takes it very seriously. Or any animal, really. It comes with loss and grief, guilt and sorrow. It is a huge responsibility.
A necropsy revealed that Bunny was carrying five little developing babies in her uterus. So the Rattery lost six, not just one. The babies would have been fifth gen born and raised here at AR.
Picture included of the precious girl, taken a few weeks ago. She is deeply missed.

A loss like this, means not breeding her sisters just in case; That is responsibility. Responsibility is paramount when it comes to rearing animals. Their lives are in our hands and we must do our absolute best.

Here are photos of the mice as promised.
Two females available. One black with a white tail tip, one white with pink eyes. Both friendly and tame in the hand once picked up. I want them to go together as female mice are highly social.

All four babies like to sit in your pockets and are even shoulder tame. Nice healthy shiny coats. Honestly, mucher nicer mice than you will get than from the pet store if you want them for pets. All are about 5 weeks old.
The last pics are the father. Unfortunately I think he’s allergic to wood bedding as he’s got some itchy skin. He won’t be available until that’s all delt with. He also has one blind eye. But don’t let that fool you, he’s sweet and hand tame. He will have to be on paper bedding or something similar, say corncob. Give an old fella a good retirement home :)

Mice Available**

I recently took in a group of mice, that now are looking for homes.
There are three young males (solid black, white toes/tail tips) and a red eyed white male (their father). The mom is also looking for a home, she's long furred and black and white (with a minor kink in her tail). She has a red eyed white daughter, and a solid black daughter.
Male mice must live alone, and females do better in groups! I will share pictures soon. Please let me know if you're interested in adopting any of these sweet babies. Father and mother mice aren't super keen on being handled but the younger ones are getting quite used to it :)

IMPORTANT

Update to the adoption process!
Reservation specifically*
AR is changing its reservation process. It’s something I’ve been thinking about doing for quite awhile and am just cementing now.

BEFORE-
The process worked as I posted availability pictures and everyone on the waitlist who was an approved adopter got to speak for rats they wanted, working first come first serve upon the pictures being posted.

NOW-
I will go in order of families/adopters being added to the waitlist. I’ll go down the line letting adopters pick their rats until the rats are all spoken for.

The rest of the process (being approved, pick up day, etc) is still the same. Waits for babies are still long and hard to predict, but now are more equal between adopters. This new procedure is being chosen because I believe it makes the process more fair, and it makes it easier on me and you too.
For the two current litters I will contact those already on the waitlist and let them know what order they are in over the next few days to week, as reservations can happen soon.
There is a possibility I will be able to open the waitlist but am unsure yet.
I have updated pictures as well, as the babies have grown a lot! 🐀 💕
