Two months ago, I got the chance to take part in the most amazing thing - I spent four days with some of the most brilliant people in the #doggenetics field in the world. It was a great honour to be able to be part of this event - IFGGC in Helsinki was hosted by Hannes Lohi this year and the organisation was just great! I was a bit worried at the beginning that I didn’t belong there - being part of the same group of people I’ve been reading studies from for many years. But #dog #geneticists are such cool people! And I’ve learned a lot! Four days of presentations and lectures on what’s new in the field. I still have my head full and haven’t written down everything I’ve seen yet lol.
I hope to be able to attend again next time!

Super proud of Jasper and Annika, who competed as probably the first border collie ever at IGP3 qualis in Switzerland together with other breeds like german shepherds and malinoas!! 😍😍😍😍
🔥🔥This is an awesome result of their work and also the best presentation of versatility of border collie breed! 🔥🔥
..and of course I cannot be happier that this result comes from my Reesheja puppy 💕🧬💕 Thank you Annika!!!
Japer has finally also his own pare at Reesheja web, together with Bikar. Other Reesheja stud dogs pages are in preparation😎😎https://www.reesheja.com/jasper

My tracking crew🥰 not so bad💪
Seems like someone is training my mental flexibility last two days 😀 Yesterday three crossed tracks by five people and four dogs and today the dog show. Not sure if it was always like this or it's just my impression that it is worse.. But it's a complete mad house. Do not understand people who go there willingly spend their weekends 😀
Baby Wade got VG and made everything easier for me. So first and the last show. I was so perplexed that I didn't even make a photo. But I realized it quite soon and at least took the video of our way back to the car. At least you can get the dog show vibes🤪

I mean it. Do not try everything you see on the internet.
The first though you will have (same as I did), when you see this video, is probably this: This is too early for jumping. The dog will be damaged and will have poor X-rays.
Fair enough, let's discuss it. What is usually your first though when you see bad result from X-rays? That the dog was jumping too much? No. You will think that this dog has poor genetics.
Think about it the next time you will want to judge someone. Discussion under the post is open to discuss the genetic point of view or share studies for this topic. Teach us or learn from others. Hate is not helping anyone and therefore has no place in comment - you can scream in the shower today.
The evidence-based view on this: dysplasia (hips, elbows) and probably also OCD are polygenic traits. This means, that apart from genetics, also the environment plays a role in the final result (so the X-ray result in this case). How much is the influence of genetic and how much it is from the environment? True to be said its not clear enough, because for example in this case, we would need a number calculated based on border collie data. But in most studies you will find something between 0,2 and 0,35. The max is 1. This means, that the main influence on final result is from the environment. Environment is everything from how the female was fed, how were puppies raised, which surface was in the puppy pen, which surface was at home of the new owner, if the dog was running with other dogs for free, how was the dog fed, if the dog was exercised in the correct way, if the dog was fat, if the dog was jumping too much, if the dog was doing super tight turns or speed up or stop from 100 to 0 (like picking dumbels in high speed, or running on toys to box)... environment is all this. Plus at what age the xrays are done and by who. Think about this next time you wi

Resistance to both mental and physical stress - a very valuable trait in working dog💪
One of the ways how to verify it is via protection training.
I love this sport ❤️
