Slow & Steady Tortoise Rescue Slow & Steady is a rescue for tortoise and turtles. We are only equipped to take in pet tortoises or turtles that are not native species.

We do not have the capability to rehab wildlife at this time.

It is with a broken heart I give this update. Tortellini did not make it. My sweet baby fought so hard. Dr. Benson will do a necropsy tomorrow to try to determine exactly what caused all this.

Tortellini is still fighting. Here is an update. We will administer more medication later today. Also Tortellini pooped so that is a good sign of things moving.

Update on Tortellini’s condition. The prognosis is Guarded to Fair. Something which we think is the liver is pushing the stomach to the side. We will be administering more medications and food via the tube for the next bit.

We need help. Tortellini is very sick. Tortellini is not using front legs which means his mobility is hindered. He cannot even lift himself to stand and he is unable yo eat. We have already paid $450 for bloodwork and radiographs and antibiotics. Tortellini has a mass of some sort in the abdomen and a high white blood cell count. Dr. Benson wants to put in an esophageal tube and give more medications and use barium to see if we can identify the mass. We do not have the funds for roughly $500-700 more after what we have already paid. Tortellini is why I started this rescue. I cried most of the night. Please help or share. In May we brought home Linguine. He weighed 1372 grams. Last night he weighed in at 2697 grams. I will update pictures later today.

On Monday we brought home another baby. Welcome Sully Linguine. Yea another sully. Lol. We give them pasta names. Dr. Benson has taken a look at him and says he looks good. He is about 3 years old. Dr. Benson also thinks that Linguine is in fact a boy although he wouldn’t bet his life on it. We are awaiting his testing results. If you would like to donate it is about $300 a tortoise for their first vet visit to make sure they are clear of parasites and respiratory viruses.

Sully Macaroni got back his testing from Dr Benson. All was negative. I took him outside for some fun. Sully Macaroni loves dandelions. (I say he but we won’t know for a few more years)
