Oh my god, are you familiar with this situation? 😅🐶 Write in a comment if your dog also "drops water" often 🤤🤤 In what situations does this happen to you most often?

Salivation is a physiological response of the body caused by the presence of something or the expectation of something. Let's say food. Neither we nor the dogs can control it. However, care must be taken not to associate situations where this may be disturbing with things that cause salivation.

Of course food or expecting it is not the only reason. And yet it is the most common.

Nice a nice salivating Saturday 👋

Dogs and children ❤️ Is there anything more beautiful? Write in the comment what kind of relationship children and dogs have in your home ✍️

To make the post educational, read what you need to pay attention to:
👉 At an early age of a child and / or dog, never leave them unattended
👉 We have to give the dog a place where he can move away when he has a "enough” of everything
👉 Dog communication must be taken into account. If the dog moves away, we don’t force ourselves after him
👉 The child needs to be shown how to interact properly with the dog
👉 We do not allow any roughness

If we consider at least these basic things, children and dogs can develop a remarkable TWO-SIDED relationship that everyone enjoys. It is up to us parents and dog handlers to be consistent.

Do you agree❓

Raise your hand 🤚 if you have an adopted dog 🐶

👉 When you adopt a dog, you have to be aware, that you also adopt its history. Are you prepared for that? I seriously hope so. Because if you are not, that can be a nightmare for your dog and also for you and your family.

🔥 So, what do you have to pay attention to, when you bring home an adopted dog:

1. Give your dog at least 10-14 days to get familiar with the new environment and with you and your family.
2. Give your dog possibility to use its nose a lot. If that happens via free work, that’s perfect.
3. Take your time, to figure out what causes stress to your new dog. What are situations and environments where that happens.
4. Make it possible to your dog, that it learns about its new environment via sniffing and exploring
5. In first few months don’t introduce any obedience work. Just focus on your dogs emotional state.

✅ If you will pay attention to that, the possibility of your dog developing unwanted behaviour will be much lower. And that is what we want for us and especially for our dogs. Right?

Take care 👋 and share if you find it useful 🐶

Holly smoke, how much frustrated we can get sometimes, when we are teaching our dog new behaviours or solving an unwanted behaviour. Right❓

👉 You are not alone, we have all been there at least once. And it is just a part of the process. Mainly because now-days we are used of getting things immediately. And that’s just not how it goes in dog training.

Especially when solving behavioral problems, and when we are limited in time, it is important to choose simple but still effective activities 💯

✅ One of these is finding food stuck to the bark. Simple right?

🐶 This is also one of the activities with which we tried to brighten up the day in December for a few dogs that are currently staying at the local Animal Shelter. There we met the COOL caretakers, which are there with their whole heart.

Such a walk through the Italian city of La Spezia was completely unimaginable for Chilly 🐶 not so long ago. To walk with a reactive dog in such an environment - "Impossible" 💯

Well, but it's possible. With the right approach and some work put in. And you can make that change with your dog too.

What do you say would like something like that in the 2022? Write in the comment ✍️

Slow thinking 🔥 in stressful situations and activities for lowering stress are the key, when we are changing our dogs reaction to other dogs, cars, people, ...

👍 You have to understand, that your dogs reaction in those situations is a result of automatic physiological response in dogs body. So those behaviours are coming from a part of the brain that is in charge of automatic responses.

✅ Only after when we teach our dog how it can release the stress and start thinking slowly, the behaviour in those situations will change.

Do you have problems when your dog sees other dogs❓

19/12/2021

If your dog 🐶 is under stress in different situations, like for example when meeting other dogs, that stress causes higher arousal and that arousal then causes bad behaviours in those situations.

💯 If you want to change bad behaviours, like barking, growling, lunging and pulling toward other dogs, you have to first deal with the stress.

🔥 You can do that with many techniques, the simples one is sniffing. Only by doing that you can solve the problem by its roots.

Oh my god there is really 1000 and 1 thing, that you can do with your dog 🐶 on a snow. This weekend we did some sledding, baloon chasing, digging (which is btw one of the best activities for strengthening muscles of dogs front end) and dog play.

What is the favourite activity that you and your dog 🐶 like to do when you have snow 🥳?

Having fun on the snow can be great joy for the whole family. Do you agree❓ But in order for everyone (especially your dog) to enjoy it is crucial that you pay attention to few things 👇

1️⃣ If your dog wears a jacket it's really important that you condition it first and check if your dog gets stressed when putting it on or wearing it.

2️⃣ You have to be careful that you don't expose your dog for too long. Especially if your dog is not very active. Some dogs, can catch a really bad infection really fast.

3️⃣ Becareful on show balls that can form on your dogs paws and coat. Especially those in the paws region can cause your dog a lot of pain.

4️⃣ Teach your dog to dig in the snow. That simple exercise is very benefitial for building muscules witih your dogs front region. It's an exercise that we often use on all our dogs - especially older ones.

5️⃣ You MUST take a PHOTO 📸 and share it under this post 👍

Woohooo, first snowy day here in Slovenia 🥳🥳 Is your dog 🐶 also crazy about it? Show us the first photo 📸 of your Snow Dog you can find on your phone 😍

🔥 Of course not all dogs are excited about the snow, some are not enjoying it even one bit. Is yours like that? In CoolDog HQ we have both. Ruba is not very excited while Lala and Chilly (which you can see running on the picture) could have snow all year round.

Everyone enjoys something else, and that is truly remarkable, right❓

Is your dog 🐶 COOL and is fluent in "sit", "spin" and "shake hands"? What about putting on a vet collar❓ How it feels when putting on a muzzle? There are really many many "tricks" that we forget about, but at some point, we would need them sooooo bad. Right?

👍 & share if you agree: Too many dogs are hurt and dog owners unsuccessful and give up every day, because dog trainers try to use “ONE SIZE FIT THEM ALL” approaches 😡.

👉 That is one of the most common mistakes out there. I know, because I was one of them. I came into behaviour modification from competitive K9. Search & Rescue to be specific. And when you are successful in competitions, you start to think that you know everything.

❌ Well it turns out, that you don’t. Maybe a lot in the field of preparing a dog for competitions in searching and obedience. But when it comes to changing dogs behaviour you soon (hopefully) realise, that that the game is so much different. Same techniques ( even if they are reward based ), can sometimes cause more harm than good in terms of dog’s emotional state.

🔥 Simple example is, introducing obedience in stressful situations for a dog that has a behaviour problem. While desirable when applied in competitions, that can cause so much stress for a dog in those situations, that you can’t even imagine.

🙏 So please, stop trying to merge those 2 worlds together. While some things translate very nicely, some aren’t at all. Be careful and pay attention on what your dog is “telling you” with its behaviour.

Have a nice day 👋,

Many of us have more than one dog 🐶. Write in the comments how many do you have 👇✍️

🔥 There are few things, that will make your life easier if you have more than one dog.

1. Make sure, that in early stages teach every dog separately. That way, both dogs will get behaviour patterns that you want. Otherwise, they could learn things, that you will not like (at all 😉 )

2. If you have an older dog and you get a puppy, please be fair to your old dog, and don’t let your new puppy jump all over the old dog and harass it.

3. Pay attention to behaviour mirroring. Meaning if you know that one of your dogs have problems with other dogs or other situations, make sure that they don’t get in those situations together. One with a problem, could mirror the behaviour to the other one, which I would say is not something that you would want.

4. Plan activities, where you can progressively start to do things with both, but in controlled environment and for a short period of time.

If you already have 2 or more well behaved dogs, then just enjoy life with them 🥰

Enjoy! 👋

No matter big or small 🐶, they all deserve to be raised right 💯. Because that will make their and our lives better. Do you agree❓ Write in the comment: Is your dog big or small? ✍️

👉 One of the most common myths about small dogs was, that you get yourself a small dog if you don’t have time to teach them. That is of course not true, since there are a looot of dog owners with small dogs that developed BIIIIIG problems. Are you one of them❓

👉 A myth that was circling around about big dog was (or maybe still is), that you get a big dog if you have a house with a big yard, so that your dog can have enough exercise. That is also not true, since a dog will never find suitable activity which will release its drives and will be SUITABLE FOR US at the same time 👍.

🔥 It is really important, that no matter where our dog lives. Either we live in an apartment or in a house, we have to take 1h of our time daily and exercise our dog properly. Meaning doing activities with which we release our dog’s drives and desires. Not just physical activities.

✅ That way, no matter big or small, living in a house or studio apartment, every dog can be happy and have its drives released. That way, life will become much easier and learning process much more efficient.

Have a great weekend! 👋

Playing with your dog 🐶 the right way in the right amount and with quality toy is very important. With the unsuitable toy we can even injure our dog 😱.

🔥 While on the other hand, properly executed, playing can be very beneficial. We can use it as an activity for our dog, we can combine playing and searching for a toy. And when everything is built to the point that there is no conflict in the process, we can even use it as a reward for our dog 💪.

17/11/2021

STOP your dog 🐶 from PULLING THE LEASH 🔥. Well...this is not 100% correct. Let's say it like that: TEACH your dog how to WALK ON A LOOSE LEASH 💯. Feels about right❓

👉 Here is the 1st step on teaching that behaviour.

Make sure, that you start teaching that in the environment without distractions. Otherwise you will have BIG problems. And of course, your dog won't be able to learn anything.

Get to work 💪, and report back on how it went 🔥

Huh, there are so many myths about how to raise and teach your dog 🐶. Right❓ So many miss-information. Most of it has no impact, some of it has really bad impact and some are actually OK. Well, this is not one of those 💯.

🔥 If you want to teach your dog something, it doesn’t matter what you are teaching or working on, you have to learn about how dogs learn and at least partially understand the techniques that are used. In other case, because your dog will not understand what you want from it and what it should do in this case. Which will lead to frustration and lack of motivation and of course dog will not want to cooperate with you anymore.

👉 All this, will then lead into more and more unwanted behaviour.

But you don’t want this, don’t you❓Like to affirm.

Activities, that we do together 🐶👨‍👩‍👧 are the best. Like if you agree👍 But what are appropriate activities, that a dog and a child can do? 🤔

Well that depends. Me and my wife really put a lot of our time into teaching our daughter how she should interact with our dogs.

🔥 Why is that important? Because children do not have a feeling on what is appropriate and what not. Which can cause a range of accidents to happen. Every year we have some calls, where parents cry into the phone, that their dog bit their child. This is bad by itself, but we should be aware, that by knowing “dog language” we could prevent that. That, and of course by raising our child right and showing our child how the interaction should look like. And the most important, that our dog is not a toy.

👉 Please share, we have to prevent this kind of things from happening.
