This past weekend was such a humbling experience. I have so much to share but not sure what to say. I held people's hands as they cried in their car, holding their cat, looking for the bare essentials to get by as they tell me about losing their homes. Some people didn't speak English, but their eyes told enough. And before we get upset about illegals, let's start with the fact that they are still humans. Humans who need help.
We worked our tails off. Unloading vehicles, loading vehicles, sorting, etc. It was exhausting but there were some amazing people there to lessen the load. I met 2 gentleman who have been there for WEEKS helping because they could.
If you think they are ok down there, they are not. Met a family of 5 living in a tent, who lost EVERYTHING, to the point their 3yr old child didn't have a car seat and they drove to us to get supplies. We had car seats and more to equip them with bare essentials. Some people hated to ask for help, you could see it on their faces. 2 ex military families have been bugging out this entire time and a kind gentleman came to get them tents, cots, cook stoves, and heaters. It was mostly a no questions asked situation. Come get what you need and come back if you need more.
A judge free zone. Some people coming through the pick up line were so angry. But guess what, it wasn't my place to say "oh they should be happy we are here giving them free stuff." We don't know what or who they lost.
All I can say is, I plan on returning to North Carolina in the future. It's a long road to recovery for them. They need you. If you have TIME to volunteer, TALENTS like electricians, construction, mold clean up, or if you have extra TREASURES and can support them financially please reach out to someone to get plugged in and help.
Biggest needs are housing and heat right now. Have an old camper or car? Consider donating it. Be a blessing to others, someday you may need someone to do it for you. ❤️

It's important that our dog trainers can communicate with our clients effectively. Most of dog training is guiding the human and helping them understand their dog. We can't do that very well if we can't explain things correctly.
Trainer Holly was a great sport yesterday and walked our owner through how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Day #4 Dog Heat Wave Challenge: Have some fun with trick training
Training doesn't always have to be about obedience. Have fun with your dog and teach them a new trick!

Day #2 Dog Heat Wave Challenge🥵--The cool down🥶
A lot of people use Kongs or lick mats as a form of enrichment, but did you know freezing them is a great option on these hot days!
Soak your dogs kibble and stuff your enrichment toy with it. Add in whatever else your dog likes. Pop it in the freezer and before you know it, you have an easy cool down activity. It's also great for dogs who eat fast or are a little stressed, licking is a natural calming behavior for dogs!
My dogs loves beets, pumpkin, yogurt, blueberries and strawberries in theirs. What do your dogs like?!
Today's challenge: The Hunt
Day #1 of the Dog Heat Wave Challenge!
It's hot outside! 🥵 But did you know cabin fever can happen during the summer too? I don't know about you but our dogs love to be active and they are wondering when they can get outside.
We've got 5 days of fun activities you can do with your pup to avoid too much exposure outside and provide them with some mental and physical enrichment!
Hunting is a genetic attribute that's deeply rooted in your pup. This fun activity takes 15 minutes and gets them using their nose in a way to find their food like never before.
If you don't have shade in your yard, try hiding their bowl inside! We encourage your dog to be on leash and you being a part of the hunt. Don't help your dog too much!
Comment with a photo or video of your dog taking part in a ritual of hunting for their food!
Between the picnics and fireworks, pause and mourn for those who never made it home. Someone's brother, mother, friend, child who gave, selflessly, so we can have all the freedoms we have today.
