🔰Yorkshire Terrier are predisposed to gastroenteritis, an inflammatory condition of the stomach and intestines that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, poor appetite, and weight loss. Due to their small size, Yorkies may be more susceptible to dehydration.

🔰Irish Setter are prone to gluten intolerance which causes diarrhea, weight loss, and chronic skin problems. They also are predisposed to bloat, which occurs when an excessive amount of food, air or fluid accumulates in the stomach, causing it to swell and twist, trapping the gases and stomach contents inside.

🔰German Shepherd often develop food allergies and their barrel-chested body structure puts them at a higher risk for bloat. Besides, German Shepherds are predisposed to gastroenteritis.

🔹Labrador Retrievers can be prone to allergies. Many Labradors present with food or environmental allergies, causing itchy skin, hot spots, and other skin problems.

🔹Chinese Shar-Peis are prone to skin irritation. This irritation is especially common in these dogs because of how the skin folds onto itself, causing the short hairs from one side of the fold irritating the skin on the other side as they rub with movement.

🔹American Bulldogs tend to have hypersensitivities, both food and environmental, which can impact their skin.

🔹English Bulldogs often have diseases in their skin folds, and these diseases can also cause secondary infections (like yeast and bacterial skin infections), so a lot of care and cleaning is required of a bulldog’s coat.

🔹Pit Bull Terriers tend to have a weak immune system, making them more prone to many types of infections. Another common skin problem among pit bulls is Demodex or tiny mites that live in hair follicles.

🔹 Poodles can be prone to a genetic condition called granulomatous sebaceous adenitis, which affects the oil glands and can cause hair loss. This condition also makes them more susceptible to secondary infections.

🔸Rottweilers are predisposed to elbow and hip dysplasia as well as arthritis. The breed is also predisposed to osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD), which is a malformation in the joint cartilage. OCD can be prevented by providing proper nutrition.

🔸Dachshunds are long and low to the ground. Therefore, they can develop back problems fairly easily – especially if they become overweight. Try avoiding any excess back or neck strain to reduce the risk of any spinal injuries.

Still, here are some tips to make it easier:
🐾Choose a vet that connects with your dog.Try to find a vet that is understanding and willing to work with your pup.
🐾Visit the vet regularly. Visit the vet office even when nothing is going to happen. Call ahead and ask the vet staff if you can stop by and weigh your dog, or just stop by to say hi and for a treat. Most vet staff will be happy to help you work on this!
🐾Practice at home. Practice handling your dog and touching his feet, ears, tail, etc. as soon as you get him as a puppy or adult dog. This will make the process of the vet check your dog a bit less stressful.
🐾Keep yourself calm. If you are nervous about how your dog is going to act at the vet’s office, this will likely increase your dog’s anxiety, too. Try some deep breathing before you go in, talk in your normal voice, and don’t be overly coddling.
