With dogs, they are either super excited about the snow 🤩 or they want nothing to do with it 🥶 and head back into the warm house. (I love the warm house, myself 🤭)
Training isn’t always work, work, work. Just like we like occasional easy weekend days, dogs are similar. Like much of the Lowcountry, we had a fun snow day outside today! And got to practice calm behaviors inside for when they have to be cooped up a bit more.

I honestly don’t know what was more impressive: this Bernedoodle pup coming home, or the kids taking the training reins! 😍🤩 They hopped right in and showed / corrected her like they have been doing this for a long time!

It was important to really test this pup, as his mom will be bringing him to her veterinary office with her. Busy farmers market, other dogs, people walking all around, lots of different smells, foods, and other things to get distracted by; and he absolutely crushed it. 😎
This guy, on Day One, would not have been able to do this! He would have been pulling towards dogs, chasing cats, and darting off towards anything that interested him. I’m super proud of how far he came, and how fun he finds training. 🤗

Small dogs are just as trainable as the big dogs!!
This little lady used to be a “Nervous Nelly” and liked to bark at everything and nipped/bit at us quite a few times, but look at her NOW! Confidently out in public, training with no issues!
I hear it all the time, “My little dog can’t do that! He doesn’t listen! She barks at people and dogs! He won’t come when called!” 😖 But look at this little Frenchie! He’s a perfect example of little dogs being able to listen. People often think little dogs aren’t trainable (or worth the effort to train), so they just live with the bad behaviors, like barking at people and dogs, pulling on leash, etc, and don’t think their little dog will do obedience for them. This isn’t true! So many little dogs love to work, just like the big dogs 😎
It’s important to start your puppy or young dog off on the right paw! 🐾 Let us help you instill the proper foundations, not just in home, but out and about. On rainy days, what should you do with your dog? 🌧️ ☔️
That is a great question! This is the best way to work on that 𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗗 with your dog and keep their obedience 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗣!
Work on your clicker work inside; it’s a great way to help burn off some of your dog’s energy. Use your dog’s kibble (or a high value reward), and the moment your dog does what you ask, ✨CLICK✨! And give them that treat! Practice sits, downs, place, stays, and recall. Work on that eye contact and engagement. Walk around the house and have your dog sit or down and stay in random places. Have them sit and free over and over, it can even be turned into a game of Hide and Seek! Just like math tests in school made us tired mentally, working that obedience is just as exhausting for your dog. 😮💨 It’s a great way to keep your dog’s obedience sharp, and a fantastic way to work on your bond together! 🤗

I am so proud of this pup! When I first started training him, I would have never dreamed of dropping that leash around another dog or person. He would immediately have ditched me to go say hi! He’s such a smart dog, and as he matures, he will only get better. I don’t expect perfection, since he is young, but he’s well on his way to being an absolute rockstar. 🤗
