Anyone who has welcomed a rescue dog home can relate to some of these lines..
The first time we kicked a ball in the yard 7 years, Porthos did swerve and ran back into the house. It took him months to decide that balls could be fun. As for Aramis, she's always tried to get the lion share of the food which made us think she may have gone hungry in the past... 😢

One of my dogs is a very large dog and I notice that people sometimes avoid me! My dog is one of the most loving, calm and happy dogs I have ever known and I always tell people he's friendly and its ok to walk past with their dogs, or play with him at the park. Puppies, children all love him because he is such a pushover! This great Dane has a similar experience! Sometimes life can be a bit lonely for he big ones!
