Exciting News and Important Call to Action!

A recent report published by Best Friends shows a 3.4% decrease in the number of animals killed in U.S. shelters in 2024 compared to the previous year, marking the first positive national trend in lifesaving since 2020. 🐾 However, private shelters without municipal support experienced a 5.8% decrease in dog adoptions in 2024.

As you know, our county does not operate a shelter. The handful of rescues that do operate here are run by dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to save and care for these animals.

Meet Jax: A Story of Survival, Love, and Second Chances (Available by appointment at N.O. Paws Left Behind Rescue & Okanogan County Everything Dogs )

Jax’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. This handsome 1-year-old plus Husky/Heeler mix was found as an emaciated stray during the harsh winter of 2024. Roaming the highways and orchards of Oroville, Jax had lost all trust in the world—until a compassionate family stepped in to save him.

This loving family, despite their own challenges, opened their hearts and home to Jax. They fed him, nurtured him, and gave him the warmth he so desperately needed. We reimbursed the family's expense on Jax's first distemper parvo shots. Our compassionate volunteers visited and took him to Stardog K9 Champion for training. From there Jax's finder ensured he was neutered at the Big Fix event by Team Okanogan Animal Rescue . While the family's circumstances didn’t allow them to keep him long-term, they gave him the gift of hope.

From there, Jax’s journey continued thanks No Paws Left Behind. Their dedicated volunteers continued to help him regain trust in people and other dogs. Today, Jax has blossomed into a happy, friendly boy with a playful heart of gold.

Jax is wonderful with children—so gentle that even a toddler can walk him on a leash! He loves playing fetch, exploring the outdoors, and making friends with his four-legged buddies (especially female dogs). Weighing about 61 pounds, he’s healthy, active, and ready for his forever family.

Jax’s adoption comes with one free training session from Stardog Champion K9 in Tonasket to help him settle in and continue his transformation.

A Huge Thank You to The Asher House

Let’s celebrate the power of teamwork and what we can accomplish when we come together for animals in need. Thank you to The Asher House, our neighbors based in Oregon, for stepping up to help six German Shepherd puppies and two intact adult females who desperately needed care.

The overwhelmed owners reached out to us for help, surrendering the puppies. While we wanted to do everything we could, we simply did not have the resources. That's when The Asher House came to the rescue!

Not only did they take in these sweet, beautiful souls, they scheduled a neuter for the remaining adult male dog in the home—ensuring that this family’s situation won’t escalate further.

We are touched by this incredible commitment to animal welfare. Please follow and support The Asher House. We're proud to call them our neighbors. Thank you, to Lee and staff of The Asher House, for being the heroes these dogs needed!

Fundraiser Doggy Photoshoot at Warehouse Thrift in Oroville. Mini adoption event N.O. Paws Left Behind Rescue & Okanogan County Everything Dogs

We are having a Pop-up event next weekend at Warehouse Thrift. While some choose to go out in the cold and catch fish, we decided to do something a little warmer! We are going to have a Mini Adoption event and a Fundraiser Doggy Photoshoot at Warehouse Thrift in Oroville. Bring your favorite Canine Valentine with you and we will be taking digital photos with a Valentine backdrop (by donation). If you don't have a dog, no problem! We will have a couple wonderful dogs at the event and you may just find your perfect Valentine companion and we will take a picture of both of you!

ADOPTED! Rex Has Found His Forever Family!

We’re thrilled to announce that Rex, our spunky Maltese mix, was adopted! He’s already living his best life with his new fur sibling—the "big dog in the house," a lovable Lab—and his awesome human brother.

Thank you to everyone who applied and shared Rex's story. A HUGE thank you goes out to his amazing foster, who stepped up last minute and gave Rex the love and care post neuter surgery.

At Fur Ever Yours Animal Rescue, we believe every animal deserves love, care, and dignity in their golden years. Today, we want to shine a light on two incredible residents of our sanctuary, Skarner and Big Girl, who rely on your support for their farrier care.

Meet Skarner
Skarner, our graceful Arabian gelding, is a gentle soul who loves to graze peacefully under the open sky. Regular farrier care helps prevent issues like cracks, abscesses, and infections, keeping him healthy and happy.

Big Girl’s Story
Big Girl, a resilient Thoroughbred mare, came to us with a chronic case of scratches (mud fever) on her legs. This condition requires consistent treatment, care, and medicine prescribed by our veterinarian, along with their expert guidance. Big Girl’s journey to healing is a collaborative effort, involving careful application of topicals, antibiotics, and ongoing monitoring.

Though we found Mimmy a home, it wasn’t the perfect fit, and now this sweet girl is once again searching for someone to give her the love she so desperately deserves.

At 11 years young, Mimmy is a spirited Miniature Pinscher mix who defies her age with her vibrant energy. In her prime, she was an agility star, and even now, she’s quick, playful, and full of personality. She’s fiercely loyal and would thrive as the only dog in a home where she can soak up all the love and attention she craves.

Winter can be tough on senior dogs like Mimmy, Canelo, and Chulo, but with a little extra care, these golden oldies can thrive!

Winter Care Tips for Seniors
- Provide warm bedding in draft-free spaces.
- Use jackets or sweaters for outdoor time.
- Enrich their lives with puzzle feeders, gentle massages, and short walks.
- Check with your vet and consider the following supplements:
1) Glucosamine and Chondroitin for joint health.
2) Omega-3 Fatty Acids to reduce inflammation and support skin and coat health.
3) DHA to support memory in aging dogs.
4) Probiotics for gut health
