Yesterday, Forrest went to say hello to our friends. He enjoyed their new place and playing catan. Today Poppy got a bath and we went for a ride to meet new people.
Dahlia and Emery joined me in the kitchen to cook dinner last night. I think they had dreams about bacon.
The puppies are 8 weeks old! Monday was bitter sweet as the first puppy left for her new home. Everyone that hears our story typically says "I don't know how you did it". I could not have done it alone. I owe a huge thanks to my sister Jamie and Rob-Vickie Hooper who put their life on hold to come stay with us and help around the clock. As well as all of our other friends and family that helped along the way. Thank you all so much for your help that gave us 12 happy and healthy puppies.
Daisy has gone to her wonderful family in South Dakota. We have heard good feedback about their successful trip home. Daisy did wonderful and is now settling in to her new home. I look forward to updates and watching these babies grow.
Typical morning
We shared our puppies for National Puppy Day with Elliott's preschool class. All the puppies had a great adventure meeting new friends. I'm not sure who was more excited the kids, puppies, or the teachers.
What a fun week it has been. Lots of playtime outside and learning how to really stretch out those little legs. Most of them are settling into the crate nicely for their daily 2 hour crate session. More and more short car rides to school with the boys. They sure keep me busy but it is so rewarding watching them progress.
I'm a week away from having to say goodbye to some of these sweet faces. It is bitter sweet and our family will miss them greatly. But 8 puppies have found wonderful families to call their own. I can't wait to get updates when they go to their forever homes.

Fun in the sun at six weeks old.
They are 5 weeks old and a lot is happening! They are learning to sit, come, wear a collar and leash, and getting used to grooming. Running doesn't always end with falling and toys are becoming a hot commodity. They are officially off the bottle and eating mash 5 times daily. The mash is also getting chunkier to prepare for hard kibble. Everyone is doing wonderful and we are so proud of all these puppies.
You will also notice a few name changes as the puppies are finding their new families. I can't believe they are going to start leaving us in only 3 weeks.
Their first bath was an exciting day filled with new experiences. Overall they did great and enjoyed the spa day. Then lots of snuggles with clean puppies.

With this warm sunny weather the puppies were able to explore the great outdoors for the first time.
On Sunday the puppies were able to enjoy their new setup. It provides a lot more room to play and sleep. They are loving all the new sights and sounds.

It is so fun to watch the progress of these sweet pups. Personalities are starting to shine through. They are playing with each other, eating puppy mash, using their voice, and interacting with people. Choosing a puppy is so much more than just picking a pretty face. Certain personalities will thrive with certain families. Over the next several weeks I will observe and test the puppies to help identify their personalities and provide assistance in choosing your new family member.
Day 20 photos! They are all starting to play with their siblings. We have started potty training using pine pellets in a tray. Most of them are starting to catch on. I will post another pupdate on potty training in a week to show their progress. We also have an exciting milestone video coming tomorrow.
All the puppies finished their final sessions of early neurological stimulation (ENS) on day 16. Below I have included an article from AKC explaining ENS and its benefits. Emery, at 10 months old, has gracefully taken the role as a mother. Her sister would be proud of her, just as we are. She plays an important role for these sweet puppies.
Maxine our queen went into labor on January 31st. She had 2 puppies but the 3rd puppy got stuck in the birth canal. We took her in for an emergency C-section. They delivered the other 11 puppies but Maxine was not able to stabilize. We lost our sweet girl and our family is devastated.
I remember my son asking when she was pregnant if we were keeping all the puppies. I responded that we bred her so that other families could have a dog as good as our sweet Maxine. She was truly a gem. She loved just being with her family. Snuggles on the couch, reading bedtime stories, going for walks, feeding the horses, staying by your side while you were sick, and going on adventures with us. She stole our hearts from day one.
Our family, friends, and Maxine's sister Emery have cared for her puppies like their own babies. Her first born MJ did get ill and we sought immediate medical care for her. In the end we could not save MJ. She was laid to rest right next to her mom. They have had nothing but best we can provide. They were not able to receive colostrum from their mother so our vet did serum injections to provide them with antibodies. We feed them around the clock to meet all their needs. It has been a very difficult time for us but the puppies are beautiful and healthy. We are excited to provide families with their own Maxine.
