Reno continues his slow and steady weight loss.

Reno continues to make slow and steady progress in his weight loss journey. He weighed in at 56 pounds today. His original weight was 77 pounds. He’s lost 21 pounds. His goal is around 35. So about 20 more. He’s half way there. Good job Reno .

Reno made it under 60 pounds. He’s now 59 pounds. A total of 18 pounds lost so far. He still has quite a few more to loose but he’s a happy active dog ready to go for his walks and exercise. Reno spent the day with Jessi at ROC Animal Training and Behavior . On his way home we stopped at Hollywood Feed for a weight check. He lost a couple more pounds. Way to go Reno ‼️

On Monday 2/28/22 a volunteer from the animal rescue came to the shelter and picked me up and told me I was going to start a new journey. Although I weighed 77 pounds when I first got to the shelter I did loose a bit of weight when I spent my time there and was 72 pounds when I left.

Miller's Cause Animal Rescue was able to get me into my first veterinarian appointment on Wednesday 3/2/22. I saw Dr Harris at Halo Animal Hospital. She did some lab work and a nice exam and basically told me that my lab work didn’t show any reason for my excessive weight. That’s a good thing. So now it’s just a matter of eating less and moving more. She did say I should take joint supplements every day since all this extra weight is kinda hard on my little feet and knees and hips.

Today at her office I weighed 68 pounds. I think I’m making a good start on this journey.

I stopped by and saw Jessi at ROC Animal Training and Behavior . Jessi is working with my friend Shimmy who is also on a weight loss journey. Jessi says I can join them each week to work on muscle building and endurance.
I’m really excited to get back to being a happy playful Aussie soon.

Hi Folks

I’d like to introduce myself.
My name is Reno and I found myself in an animal shelter. I’m not really sure why my family didn’t come back and claim me. The shelter staff tried really hard to find them. Once they realized they weren’t coming they knew I was gonna need some special help.

I’m about 4 1/2- 5 years old and I’m a Mini Australian Shepherd. I should weigh somewhere between 30-35 pounds but I weighed in at 77 pounds. This is about 2.3 times more than i should. All this extra weight makes it hard for me to move. It’s causing me to put a lot of pressure on my little legs and paws when I walk around.

Thankfully the Animal Shelter Staff had heard about Miller's Cause Animal Rescue and another dog they are helping named Shimmy who has a similar story. They asked MCAR if they could help me on my journey to fitness and a better life.

Of course they said yes.
