Cystotomy is one of my favourite surgeries❗️It gives you a lot of satisfaction, treasures (bladder stones 😅) and huge comfort for the patient after surgery🐶🐱
And what is your favorite surgery procedure❓

When extracting tiny cat teeth a 19G hypodermic needle is an excellent choice of luxator 👌🏻😀

The importance of knowing what you’re seeing... (and hearing volume up)
I have noticed many videos like this on social media lately. Dogs bouncing set to music with fun captions about dancing and rhythm. The disservice being done to both humans and animals is that what we are seeing here very likely isn’t a happy pet feeling themself while they bop to their favorite jam. The videos we see going viral may actually be... well... viral! Or related to a virus at least. Distemper for example. This is very suggestive of myoclonus, the involuntary muscle contractions that may accompany distemper and other neuro conditions. Basically what I’m saying is what you’re seeing here... this is not normal. Don’t get comfortable seeing it, because you’ve seen it on screen. Just because it is showing up in your newsfeed and might look cute doesn’t mean that if you see it in your pet or on the street that you should crank up the tunes and shake your rump. Instead these are the videos that should be used (in my opinion) to open the door to discuss vaccination and/or viral infection. What’s your opinion? .

Cuterebra larvae removed from a cat 🐈🐛
Cuterebra flies, or Bot Flies, lay their eggs in grass near rodent or rabbit borrows. These are their preferred hosts, but they're not opposed to cats and dogs. The eggs attach to the animal's fur, hatch into larvae, and enter the body through the nose, mouth, or an open wound. Once inside, they crawl around under the skin looking for a good place to call home. This is usually near the face or on the neck, and it forms a noticeable lump, or "warble". The larvae continues to grow and will create a breathing hole. Once matured (about an inch long) it falls out and becomes a fly outside of the body.
This process takes about a month and is most common at the end of summer or early fall.
Luckily, bot fly larvae aren't dangerous unless found in large numbers. They're more benign than maggots, and are easily removed.
Flea and tick preventatives don't protect against bot fly larvae.
