Of all the animals in the dog kingdom, none compares to the gentleness of the giant Great Pyrenees. Fargo - the Never Ending Dog, has the unique ability to sense when something is wrong and sweetly points her nose to the problem. That includes when a cancer might be lurking, or someone is about to transition. She is absolutely incredible...and sadly Pyrs are almost always rescue dogs themselves.

So one thing I have noticed the most about this breed is that they all have the same soulful eyes. They just look at you like they adore you! I don't know that I will ever have another breed again!

This guy ❤️ Rembrandt has those eyes that speak to you and quickly capture your heart. He’s a big ole puppy—we think he is mixed with Great Pyrenees, which means there’s just more of him to love!

Rembrandt will do best in home with a yard for him to romp in and should do well with other dogs. Stop in any day to meet this beautiful pup!

Hi, All--sorry I'm so bad about updates. Have an update about Rory (now Alex) who came to NorthStar in January, 2020 very thin and not in good shape. This is from her foster mom:
Rory has settled into a nice routine. She enjoys going out in the yard whenever she pleases. Rory enjoys spending her days moving from one couch to the other. She is an avid eater who has overcome her guarding of the food and water bowls. Rory enjoys cars rides (even the ones to the vet). She is very well behaved in the car. Rory has become more trusting. She asks to be petted and enjoys cuddling. She even gives Pyr hugs, too. Rory recently purchased a My Pillow X-large dog bed which she loves and gives a top four paws rating. She is not shy showcasing her strong and deep bark to anyone who comes near the property. She is a great guard dog.

Super adorable great pyrenees Puppies. So gentle and affectionate. I have 3 left . This is a great breed for families with children. They are very easy to train and eager to please. Puppy is now ready to go to new homes as they have just received their first shots and de worming.

This is Sassy! She is very energetic, loves playing, belly rubs anywhere at anytime (especially in your lap) and is a kisser when it comes to others! She is currently 7 weeks old and is looking for a new home with a big yard to run and play with! Good with other dogs and a brave girl, she's also known as the first little explorer outside the whelping box. Maybe smaller than the others but she definitely has a big heart and a is a little ray of sunshine with her happiness she brings. She is 3 years old, intact, up to date on all vaccines and heartworm medication, she is an inside pet, no health problems, she is not an escape artist. She likes to be as close as possible to her people. She is housebroken but will use p*e pads if you are going to be away from home for a while. She is not crate trained, walks on a leash, and is good in cars. She has never been around cats and is good with other dogs. She is Amazing with kids and was raised with a child who is now nine. She has no negative behaviors.

This is Sarge’s typical work day keeping watch over his foster human in the office. He truly is a dream dog! Everyone that meets him mentions how wonderful he is - super laid back and loves pets. Please think of him if you’re looking to add a laid back, friendly boy to your home. He’s been with us almost seven months and that is far too long! This boy deserves his furever home!!!

D I V I N I T Y 💕

Meet Divinity, a charming, affectionate young girl, who loves being with her people. She weighs about 50 lbs and was born around March 2022. And she’s not just charming, she’s also very smart. She is housetrained in her foster home and knows basic commands like sit and down. She enjoys being brushed and sits still for claw clipping. She was quite the little counter surfer when she arrived in her foster home, but has learned that is not allowed (although we wouldn’t recommend leaving a steak unattended!). She also barked a lot when she arrived, but quickly figured out that if her foster sister didn’t bark, she didn’t need to either. She’s still a talker though and makes really cute little grunts and harrumphs to make it no secret where she stands (or lays)!

Divinity absolutely loves to run and play with her foster brother and sister, but she also relaxes nicely when they settle down. She has done well with all dogs, large and small, outgoing and timid. She’s a wonderful, sweet girl who is ready to find her forever family!

Divinity will need obedience training as she gets older and matures. There is a lot for a puppy to learn and like all small puppies, she will need someone who can be home with her a lot and provide her with love, patience and boundaries to help her become a loyal companion. She loves the companionship of other animals and requires another dog in the home to act as her mentor as she continues to understand the rules of her new world.

Hello all, we have been getting calls and calls for dogs in need. Unfortunately, we have to turn them away until we get some fosters. Here are the latest two we have been asked to take and their story. ( They are with animal control south of the cities)

Hi there, there are two Great Pyrenees dogs that need rescue. They were abandoned with 2 other dogs, a cat and dozens of chickens.
Grizz is a male and Hoppy is a female. Vetting unknown.
They are good with other animals and people.
Can you please help them?

We have since learned there were 3 puppies that did not survive.

PLEASE if you can foster or know somebody who can let us know.

We need to help these 2 and many more just like them.

The pups are here safe with northstar. Thanks alot to the fosters that came forward. Please continue to fill out applications. We have had several more requests to take dogs since this post was made.

This Rescue Pyrenees/GR fluff ball is finally over Parvo and back home where she belongs. She gave us a SCARE but Providence Animal Center is the best and Calamity (Callee) came through and is settling in fast. 🥰
