I am beyond ecstatic to announce that Charlotte is confirmed pregnant and is due January 13. Thank you to Simply Kind Frenchies for the use of their boy Dio. I currently have 2 reservations for this litter, and will accept 2 more until puppies are born and we confirm the number.

These two both have the classic goofy, loving French Bulldog temperament and should produce some amazing companion puppies. We may have sport prospects if any of them take after their dam in terms of drive/athleticism and/or show prospects for puppies that resemble their sire’s conformation. Both parents are extensively health tested including genetic testing, PennHIP, and OFA. Please contact me with any questions.

Here’s some information on the RFGS screening the OFA now offers. This is a test developed in Europe for brachycephalic breeds to try to improve the breathing issues in their populations over time. We are glad that responsible, health-focused breeders in the U.S. now have this available to us. We were lucky enough to find a clinic within a few hours’ drive last fall, so Charlotte has been through this screening. She is a Grade 0 and considered clinically unaffected by BOAS.

What is the RFGS?
The Royal Kennel Club and the University of Cambridge have devised the Respiratory Function Grading Scheme (RFGS) designed to advise owners if their dog is affected by BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) and give guidance to breeders on how to lower the risk of producing affected puppies. The program has been licensed by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, and RFGS screening is now available in North America.

The a select number of veterinarians have been approved as OFA RFGS examiners as of Spring 2024.The list will continue grow in numbers and by geography over time, but the roll out is slow as all approved examiners must shadow under an approved examiner in a clinical setting in order to gain familiarity with the exam protocol and gain experience and proficiency in the grading scheme before becoming approved.
