There is a lingering misconception that using force free and fear free methods consists of just ignoring any 'bad' behaviour and giving a dog food. The reality is that force free training is so much more than that.

It requires an understanding of the history of dogs, why they do the things that they do and how to change their behaviour. Of how to manage the dog's environment so they don't get to practice the behaviour we don't want to see while reinforcing the behaviours we do want - dogs do what works for them so reinforcing alternative behaviours makes the original behaviour much less likely to repeat.

Most of all it means having an understanding of the dog in front of us, their needs, likes and dislikes, so that we can help them with their fears or show them the behaviours their humans would like without danger of fear and pain, or of the dog becoming frustrated or scared.

Meet Togo!
He is so full of character and very highly driven that he quite often took it too far and overexcited himself!
We have taught him how to regulate that energy and put it to work in the right place 😁
Although the cat chasing is still a work in progress 🐱😜

Meet Millie and Max!
Millie was a bit of a worrier, especially when it cane to strangers in her house.
Max was just happy to be involved.

We have worked on Millie’s little outbursts of barking and given her the foundations of confidence boosting so she can go out and grow even more 😊

Rocko is a very active dog and his owner was struggling to walk him enough due to injury.
His owner is so dedicated he bought him his own treadmill!
Rocko was hesitant at first but with some perseverance and slow positive training he got walking on it 😁

Oliver was scratching at the couch to get our attention for food and redirecting wasn’t working since his intention was not actually to scratch..
So i taught him to use his words instead. 🐱

Meet Trixie!
Life gets a bit overwhelming for Trixie when it comes to big crowds.
She has learnt some great brain games which helps her recover from events quicker.
Most importantly repairing the bond with her mum.

Meet Tikka!
Tikka thought that it was unfair to have to share the humans that are close in his life.
He found it hard to deal with and would tell the dogs off.
He now has some tools on board to help him not get jealous in these situations, and to help make some friends!

Little Oliver hissed at the vacuum when i got it out for the first time since bringing him home. So we did some desensitising. I started with it off, and rewarded him for approaching, then turned it on low, and left him to it. DIY Tug Toy. Lockdown can be difficult for our pets too! The sudden change in routine is hard for them to adjust to. How about a boredom buster for both you and your dog! (Or cat). Can be made bigger by simply using more fabric. Mine is made from re-usable bags. 😁

Settling a crying crated puppy is OKAY! A puppy who is not yet sleeping through the night (and keeping you up) may need some reassurance that you will not leave forever.
