We love growing mushrooms outdoors. And we’re grateful for this little guy helping us inoculate some logs with shiitake mushroom spawn. Super simple procedure- Drill holes in the logs, insert mushroom spawn plugs, then cover with wax. We stacked them in a shady spot using the crib method. We also inoculated some fresh cut Ash with Blue Oyster spawn using the totem method.

In a few weeks we will have pepper starts for sale. These plants will be much bigger then the big box store starts and we only use organic soil/seeds. I’ll list peppers from super hots down to sweet.

We let our compost sit in a tumbler for 3 months to break down, then transfer to a larger pile for 6 months to further decompose, then let the worms run through it for 3 months in our worm bins. It’s a great way to feed and amend your soil. It’s called black gold for a reason.

In May we will have over 500 heirloom starts for sale. 4 different kinds of tomatoes & peppers. Lots of culinary & medicinal herbs. All the brassicas and flowers too! Only organic seeds and soil used at our farm. Soon we will be moving everything outside ☀️
