Last Saturday my soon to be bride had a dream we were picking out a new chocolate lab pup (my dream dog). This was at 10 am. By 3pm we were home with our new puddle of mud puppy. 7 weeks old.

In this internet age there is a lot of info on how to train a retriever. Almost too much. There are so many differing ideas and techniques.

I’m no expert. But, I plan on documenting how I did it. In a rough step by step manor.

Week one... Bonding. Where I go Ruby goes. Lots of running backwards then crouching to live up on her as she comes to me.

And, some quick not too serious sessions of sitting. I’m finding a 2x2 carpet square a huge help to start her one placement. But, most of all. Lots of naps!!
