Jax/Jace is doing great. We are contemplating changing Jace’s name and the best options we have come up with are Jax, Jello, or Hydrox. We will definitely take any suggestions. Today Jax has been super affectionate looking for pets, cuddles and love from all of us. He has started becoming very attached to me, following me everywhere. He won’t even go outside unless I am with him. He has been exploring the house a lot more and sticking his nose into everything. Jax has a bit of an upset tummy, I assume because of all the change. So we will give him some rice in his food tonight. He also has very dry, flaky skin, even though his coat feels soft. This means he will also be getting some yummy salmon skin to help his skin out. Jax is very food obsessed and since we are trying to put some weight on him, that is great. Right now he weighs 40 pounds and is pretty petite. Another 10 pounds will do him good. I will try to get a better photo to show his size. And don’t forget to send us name thoughts.

Jace did well overnight. He slept on the dog bed downstairs and we put up a fence around it, so he wouldn’t wander in the night. I checked on him a number of times in the night and he had barely moved. This morning I let him outside where he quickly did his business. I fed him and then I went back upstairs to sleep for another hour. Little Jace followed me upstairs and jumped into bed, after I called to him. He curled up next to me and slept. It was very sweet.

This is Jace. He is our new official foster. Hubby, Junior and I picked him up from the shelter at 11am. He is very timid and was not doing well in the shelter. Jace is 1 year, 2 months old and super skinny. He needs to gain some weight and reduce his shelter anxiety. He didn’t like the loud noises or barking. First thing we did at home was bathe him. He needed it! Then we let him wander around and get a lay of the land. He enjoyed the backyard and didn’t want to come inside. Eventually we enticed him in, he is food motivated. He lay down on the dog bed, so we covered him with a blanket and put a fence around the bed, so he felt safe, and let him sleep. He deftness to decompress and get comfortable in a home. He is very sweet and we can tell he will be affectionate, he just needs some time.

Today Junior had his green belt test at taekwondo. He passed and will be awarded the green belt in class on Monday. Hubby and I are very proud of him. On Sunday morning the whole family is going to the DCSPCA to meet Jace, a potential foster. We are very excited and will let you know how it goes. Wish us luck!

I am feeling very bothered today. We decided against fog sitting the large lab. My allergies can’t handle it. But, what I really want to do is go to the shelter and foster a dog. I am so missing having a doggy in the house. Dogs are do good for my mental and physical health. They make me walk and give love and affection and fill up the house. Junior, Hubby and I just met a potential dog we may be dog sitting. He is a 95 pound Labrador retriever. I think I have been spoiled from all our pit bulls. Pitties tend to be much smaller, 60-70lbs, and they barely shed. This dog was in our house for 15 minutes and we left pukes of hair around the house. Hubby and I are not big fans of shedders. I do not like being covered in hair and after a few minutes I start to wheeze. Another reason to love our pit bulls! Does your doggy shed? How do you manage it?

I went downstairs in the middle of the night last night. As I was walking down the stairs, I heard a tinkling. The sound was from outside, and I put my ear to the door to hear better. Farfel’s wind chimes were ringing and sounded beautiful. I think Farfy was giving me a sign that he was with Tessa and all was good. It made me know Farfy was ok and was still with us. I felt super peaceful and content knowing Farfy was near. Have you ever got a sign from someone who has passed away?

We just found out late last night the Farfel’s beautiful Italian girlfriend, Tessa, crossed the rainbow bridge. Tessa and Farfel were puppies together. We met Tessa when they were both six months old and playing in the dog park in NJ. In fact, because of Farfy and Tessa, we made lifelong friends with Tessa’s family. We used to go on long walks together every Saturday and Sunday, and we had lots of playtime for the two of them. It break my heart that another one of Farfy’s besties is no longer with us. Our hearts go out to Tessa’s family. We will miss you, sweet girl.

So Hubby and I just signed up on Rover.com to dogsit for dogs in our home. I think this is an ideal way to “have a dog” and make a little money while we are at it. And we can do this until we find the right dog to adopt. Have you ever dog sat? Have you ever used a dog sitter? How much did you pay/were you paid? We need to earn a few dollars after our ridiculously expensive time in LA! Plus, I miss Neen Been and Farfy so very much!

Hubby, Junior and I just got home from visiting family in Los Angeles. It was a fun trip but we are very glad to be home. We even snuck in two days at Disneyland, which was amazing! The thing I had trouble contemplating was how expensive everything was in LA. Probably twice as expensive as here. Especially food shopping and restaurants. Really shockingly high prices. And just so much traffic, all the time. It is so nice to be back in our quiet, peaceful town, where things are at least more reasonably priced. Ugh!

Junior and I have been looking at petfinder the past few nights. There are so many adorable dogs on the website, it is difficult to chose one dog. Junior wants to adopt every dog. I am in agreement with him. However, we can’t do that do we have to start with one little guy. We will keep looking until we spot the perfect doggy, or one spots us!

Gosh I miss little Nina. She definitely made it into our hearts very quickly. I really want to have another pit bull. They are do misunderstood, I love giving them a chance. And I really like adopting a senior dog. However, Junior really wants a puppy, or young dog so they can grow up together. So, we are torn. I wonder if we should consider two doggies? Thoughts?

We are starting our countdown until we start looking for a new dog to foster. Our plan is to contact the DCSPCA next week. We might have a small snafu because I have been called to jury duty. Omg, omg, I have forgotten to post anything yesterday and most of today. But, we are back. We were caught up in current events yesterday and today. We also saw my best friend from childhood and had a lot of catching up to do. She is also a veterinarian and my go to for any major dog issues. She helped us so much with little Nina, when she had difficulties. She helped prepare us for what might and did happen. I am super thankful to have such an amazing inside track. Thanks Dr. Cindy! Neens sure loves to tear apart stuffies. It was one of her favorite things to do. I loved finding stuffed animals for sale at yard sales for fifty cents. They were the best value, as long as we avoided any with little beads in them. They would make a complete mess. Is your doggy a stuffie lover?

Nina is such a sweetheart. She loves saying hello to everyone, big or little. The only time she gets a bit obsessed is when she sees another dog. She really wants to greet the other dog, but not in a sweet way. She is definitely triggered by them. I wonder what happened in her past to make her so triggered by any dog, big or small. So when we are on walks I always have to warn other dog owners to stay away. Unfortunately they do not take it seriously, and I have to hold onto Nina with all my might. I wish other dog people would respect what I say and keep a distance from Neens. Sorry for not posting. It has been a rough few days. Nina is doing well. She is a bit out of it, still from the anesthesia, and she has been sleeping a lot. I am home and really happy to see Junior and Nina. I saw hubby at the hospital. Went through a rough patch tonight, again. I think I am going to opt for surgery to have this stone removed. So for now, we have two recuperating ladies who can recover together. Oh, one more thing, Nina wagged her tail when she saw me and when hubby came home. Just in case you missed it, this is a very short video of Farfy barking. You can also hear Junior’s 4 year old voice—so cute! We were in Junior’s bedroom and Farfy had something important to say. He always had something to say, loudly and insistently. I have to admit that I do not miss the constant barking. I have also been realizing that lately, I am spending more time in the family room sitting on our couch. Farfy did not like when I did that, because I was interfering with his Hubby time. Farfy did not want me in that room. On the down side, I have also realized that I have not been walking as much without Farfy. Now I need to incentivize myself to get up and go outside for a walk. I think it is time to make a new daily schedule so I make sure to get more exercise. What changed in your daily routine without your doggie around?
