Well, it seems like Jax will be a very good nurse. Over the weekend. Junior had some sort of cold/virus. Well today my throat has started to hurt and I feel like a have a slight fever. So I took some time in the afternoon to rest in bed. I had the best little heater join me. Jax crawled under the blankets and kept me nice and cozy. It was the best. Nurse Jax is in the house.

Today I had to pick up Junior from school and a special visitor came with me. Jax! It is very, very cold here, so no walks for Jax. He runs outside to do his business and runs back in as fast as he can. So, I thought doing the pick up run would give Jax a little stimulation. He enjoyed it and greeted Junior with lots of tail wags. I think he will join me on short car trips more often!

Jax has been sticking close by me all day today. He is right there with me unless someone is in the kitchen getting some food. Then he runs to the kitchen to see if he will get any tidbits. This morning, Hubby and I were getting ready for the day and Jax was outside of the bathroom. Jaxy got pretty upset and started whining to come in, too. Once we were all in the bathroom, Jax calmed down. I guess it will take a while for him to get over us being away. Does your doggy get needy when you return from a trip?

Today Jax, Junior and I worked on the sit and down commands. Jax did great at sit, but he was having trouble understanding what down meant. So, Junior taught him. How did Junior do it? Well he pretended to be a dog. I told him to sit and Junior did it. I told him down and Junior did it. Then I praised Junior and pretended to give him a treat. We tried the command on Jax and he did them. He hot lots of praise and a real treat. He did it four times and we were all very proud of him. Puppy steps…

Jax is a super happy boy today. We were in Chicago for a memorial for my cousin over the weekend and Jax stayed at home with a friend watching him. Jax was not a happy boy while we were away. He was a mess. He kept mainly to himself and did not want to go outside or come back inside after he was let out. He had a bunch of accidents in the house and very much kept his distance from our friend. She said it was like they were two roommates who didn’t like each other. The poor boy was miserable and I really don’t know what we can do to make him more at ease with other adults. I plan on calling the shelter on Tuesday to get their input.

On a happier note, Jax was absolutely thrilled when we got home today. I have never seen a dog happier, ever! He was bouncing around the house, doing zoomies and looking for love from all three of us. His tail has been wagging nonstop and he is so relieved.

Poor little boy really has gone through a lot in his short life. I am pretty convinced that he was abused by at least one adult. He is so very fearful of any grown up person and shies away from anyone who raises a hand near him. Poor, poor baby.

Jaxy Waxy is really blossoming. He has started to enjoy looking out the window and watching people walk in the field in front of our house. He loves watching the cars go by, the garbage man pick up the trash and the mailman open the mailbox. Yesterday, he was sitting on the chair with me upstairs in my office, when he saw the school bus let Junior off at our house. Jax started wagging his tail because he recognized Junior from afar. Then, he ran downstairs for a back from school greeting. Junior loved it!

Today we had a friend come over for about an hour. She is actually our friend’s daughter and a college student. I was curious to see how Jax reacted to her. Jax loves kids, and enjoys being around other dogs, but he gets pretty scared of new adults. He barks at them to start and shies away with his tail between his legs. We always let new people give Jax treats, which helps him gain some courage. But I think Jax must have been abused in the past by an adult because he gets very skittish and is quick to avoid adult interactions. So. Jax did pretty well with our friend. He even let her pet him by the end of the hour. And then, when she left, he watched her through the window. I think we have to have more and more situations where Jax meets new people. I’m hoping he will be more relaxed the more interactions he encounters. Poor little baby.

Jax loves when it is bedtime. Well, he absolutely hates going outside in the cold before bedtime, but he is always the first to jump into bed when we go upstairs. Lately he has wanted to crawl under the covers completely, but he only lasts like that for a few minutes before he keeps scooting down to the end of the bed to find his way out of the covers. Then he lies down against my side, acting like the best little heater. Jax really is the best little cuddler. Where does your dog sleep?

We had blown up a bunch of balloons for Junior’s birthday party last week. Jax was very intrigued by them. So I gave him one to play with. He pounced on it, like any good puppy, and it popped. Jax wasn’t too thrilled about the popping. He quickly ran away and stayed away. Well, today Jax overcame his fear to investigate another balloon. Of course, the outcome was the same, the balloon popped. I think Jax will avoid balloons from now on!

Jax likes nothing more than to cuddle up next to me, or Hubby, or Junior. He will lie across my lap and is very co tent to stay there for hours. We are his people and he feels completely comfortable with us. He has even started rolling on his back and letting us pet his belly and neck. Jax really trusts us and looks to us for security. Junior has decided to set up a modeling agency for Jax. He has scheduled time each day for a photo shoot and has even added three new days to the week. One is after Monday and before Tuesday, the second is after Wednesday and before Thursday and the last is after Friday and before Saturday. That last day adds an extra day to the weekend, which is awesome. Junior named all the new days, but I don’t remember what they are called. Good thing he has a notebook with the entire schedule and modeling times for Jax all figured out. I think this means I will get some excellent pictures to post. I am still waiting to hear the name of the modeling agency, but Junior should make a lot of money in the near future. Count on it!

This afternoon Jax, Junior and I went for a walk. This was the first time little Jax got to wear his new winter sweater. It looked lovely on him and he did not mind having it on at all. It finally warmed up enough to go for a nice walk and we all enjoyed the sunshine. As long as the weather is above 30” we will take Jax on more and more adventures. We love exposing him to new and different things.

Jax had a mellow day today. He wakes me up around 7am to go outside. If I don’t get out of bed Jax will lay down next to me and start biting and scratching himself. It is annoying enough that it keeps me up, so I just get up and let Jax out. I cannot figure out what is making Jax so itchy. I have changed his food to bison, because he was definitely allergic to the normal proteins. I think I need to switch to limited ingredient with an unusual protein, like Farfy used to get. If that doesn’t work, it is time to call the shelter to see if Jax needs some sort of allergy medicine. I was hoping to keep him off medication.

Jax is so much fun to have around. He really makes me laugh. He is super sweet and cuddly, but is enjoying playing with his toys. He plays by bounding across the floor and pouncing on his toy. Then he will grab it and race back to his bed to enjoy a quick chew. He will also take his toy with him wherever he goes in the house. He definitely has an adorable puppy-like quality to him that is very lovable. We are all falling for this cutie!

Jax has been super playful today. He got this squeaky snake for Hanukkah. And yesterday, Junior and I got him a new bed. Jax was over the moon. He loves having a brand new cushion to sit and, to make it even better, he has a fun snake to pounce on. It amazes me how all of our dogs know when a gift is for them. I love how happy they get. Boy has it been cold outside. We have been snuggling under lots of blankets. And Jax wants nothing to do with the outdoors. Neither do I, actually. I really do like fall and spring weather best. Winter makes me want to just hide in my bed. Even though Jax is a little guy, he is an excellent heater. He also does not like having his face under the covers. But, he is a-okay with his body being nice and warm. He really is a cutie pie! 🥰

This morning Jaxy got a double dose of breakfast. First, I woke up at 7am to let Jax outside and then give him his food. Junior was also up, so I asked Junior to tell Hubby that Jax had already eaten. Then I went back upstairs to get a few more minutes of sleep. Hubby got up at 7:30am and told Junior he was feeding Jax. Junior replied, “whatever”, so Jax got another bowlful. At 8am I called out to tell Hubby that I had already fed Jax. Oops, I was too late, Jax had enjoyed two bowls of brekkie, and Junior had no idea that he had messed up. In fact, all Junior had to say was, “oh, I can’t remember everything.” Looks like those pre-teen years have already kicked into gear. Have you ever double fed your dog?

Nina is such a sweetheart. She loves saying hello to everyone, big or little. The only time she gets a bit obsessed is when she sees another dog. She really wants to greet the other dog, but not in a sweet way. She is definitely triggered by them. I wonder what happened in her past to make her so triggered by any dog, big or small. So when we are on walks I always have to warn other dog owners to stay away. Unfortunately they do not take it seriously, and I have to hold onto Nina with all my might. I wish other dog people would respect what I say and keep a distance from Neens. Sorry for not posting. It has been a rough few days. Nina is doing well. She is a bit out of it, still from the anesthesia, and she has been sleeping a lot. I am home and really happy to see Junior and Nina. I saw hubby at the hospital. Went through a rough patch tonight, again. I think I am going to opt for surgery to have this stone removed. So for now, we have two recuperating ladies who can recover together. Oh, one more thing, Nina wagged her tail when she saw me and when hubby came home.
