Red spitting cobra (Naja pallida)
Cytotoxic venom ⚠️
These guys are beautiful, from East Africa , the grow up to about 1.2 meter to 1.5meters
They are oviparous laying 6 to 12 eggs. When threatened they will put up a hood and "spit" much like the Mozambique Spitting cobra we get here in south Africa

Look at those amazing fangs 👀🐍
Tanzanian puff adder feeding🐁
( Bitis arietans) they have front hinged fangs, which means that the fangs are unusually large and located at the front of the mouth. The only way the snake can accommodate these huge fangs is by having hinges, allowing them to fold away when not needed. They have cytotoxic venom⚠️

Walking on glass to save a life 🐍
What a thrilling rescue by Ernst vos, it was a call out for a black mamba but when we arrived it was a olive grass snake which is mildly venomous. 💚 this just shows you the lengths we would go to to save a life.
The snake was 1.59meters however she is malnourished and will be staying with us at our facility until she is healthy enough to survive the winter🐍💚
She is doing well and has had a few meals and a soak.

This is the Mozambique Spitting cobra we rescued a few days ago🐍 We did a quick check for parasites and injuries , which we found old injuries we couldnt do anything for but we removed the parasites and checked the vent.
The snake is now clear to be released after a nice meal of mice 🐁💚
Watch this space for the release video 💚🐍
Happy freedom day everyone 🇿🇦

On Thursday afternoon we received a call from Harold Johnson Nature Reserve for a black mamba that was too close for comfort. we then rushed out to help as it is an essential service🐍💚 they did an excellent job of keeping the snake where they saw it by throwing a light sleeping bag over it so it would not be spooked. when we arrived we discovered it was a Mozambique Spitting cobra 💚 luckily it all went smoothly and we are currently going to give it a meal and check if it's healthy to release 💪
Please stay safe during this time of lockdown❤ let's all do our part to flatten the curb.
Remember we are here to help of there is a dangerous snake near you.
Today we got a call for this little guy who managed to get itself stuck in a rim. lucky we came out to help🐍💚 Please note we are still open 24/7 to help. The snakes do not know its lockdown.😂💚
