We often get the question of “what’s killing the honeybees?”. Disease is the answer. How are these fatal diseases transmitted? By this little red devil. The Varroa Mite, aka Varroa Destructor due to its ability to overwhelm honeybee colonies with disease and weakness this time of year. First detected in the USA right here in our state.

What do we do in the summer? Feed the bees and make sure we’re queen rite (every hive has a queen). We also add second boxes to replace honey we robbed.
