We often get the question of “what’s killing the honeybees?”. Disease is the answer. How are these fatal diseases transmitted? By this little red devil. The Varroa Mite, aka Varroa Destructor due to its ability to overwhelm honeybee colonies with disease and weakness this time of year. First detected in the USA right here in our state.

Sourwood honey is from the sourwood trees located in the NC mountains and only produces enough nectar for honey at mountain elevations.
