STROLL & SKETCH with and

Sunday September 15th, 12-3pm

Come with or without your dog!

We’ve teamed up to show you one of our favourite walks in our local area! We’ll start with a 1.5 hour stroll through Wanstead Flats and beyond, with space for dogs to play, swim, run and enjoy themselves, and humans to chat and connect. We will then head to our sketching spot where Jo will lead us all in creating portrait of our four legged pals.

You don’t need to have any art background, just a love for your dog and the passion to put that onto paper!

Tickets from £10-25 depending on what you can afford, free tickets available for those who need.

Art supplies, tea and dog chews provided!

Dog attendees must be happy to exist around other dogs and people, if they’re reactive (like Jo and Freya’s dogs), they can stay home and you can learn the route with us and sketch from a photo if you would like!

WOOF! Gen (short for General) has had frustration based reactivity since her adolescence. Which is something I see a lot of! It led to her barking, lunging and growling, which isn’t a great way to make friends.

In London, it’s really bladdy hard to create lots of distance and to work with space on our side, so we had to start with lots of management and making sure we had all the basics mastered.

We had session 3 of 4 and she aces Highbury Fields at peak time with no reactions!

We’re doing it again baby! Next puppy class starts on September 14th.

The group course costs £200 with the option to add on 3 1-to-1 sessions for £180 for some extra support.

You might recognise this lil man from puppy class earlier in the year, or from some 1-to-1 sessions in the spring.

His dad has really thrown himself into training Koda as kindly as possible. He’s dedicated time and effort as well as carrying a giant bag of pate on every walk!

For a 9 month old Husky, he is smashing!

But without consistency and dedication from his humans, he wouldn’t be anything like this!

It’s a heatwave in London this week, with the apps saying 29 degrees. So more people are trying to get out early with their dogs to get their walks in!

But be mindful that the early slot is often sacred to the reactive, nervous, or otherwise crowd averse crew. So make sure you’re helping them out by staying aware! What can this look like?

- If you’re not 100% with your dogs recall, pop a long line on

- Ask before approaching, or letting your dog approach

- If you see a dog on their lead, pop yours on too until you pass

- Keep your eyes out for dog in yellow awareness gear

Starting 2024 with chaotic posting energy, and people seem to like when I behave like a bitch so…

If you have a problem with XL Bully dogs, you probably have some racist and classist opinions. The new law is the biggest load of bo****ks. During our XL Bully event, we met so many people that are dealing with having to pay a huge amount to be able to keep their beloved pets.
- Neutering
- Registration
- Insurance
- Muzzles

The cost came at a time of Christmas spending, meaning money is already tight.

If you’re angry about the XL Bully ban. Do something. Right to your MP, contact and donate towards their neutering event, make sure when people reach out for help they are getting it.

If you have a problem with XL Bullies, please show yourself out.

FUNdamentally Excellent!

Yesterday, the latest batch of FUNdamentals students graduated. Group classes are especially difficult for adolescent dogs and dogs that haven’t had a chance to practice around many distractions. But this lot smashed it!

We focussed on loose lead, settle, leave it, recall, handling dog interactions and lots more.

The course doesn’t have a set curriculum and is made bespoke for each group of students. So it’s always fun to see what is brought to the table.

Let’s talk small dogs.

I’m a big dog guy. I’m a big big dog guy. But over the past months I’ve become increasingly passionate about small dogs.

Chihuahuas, pomeranians, sausage dogs and so on, all get made the brunt of comments about aggressive dogs. But it’s not their fault. It’s never their fault.

During training sessions with little dogs we have people bringing their big dogs over when a little one is having a melt down. No matter how much they are told not to. It’s usually accompanied by a person laughing at this tiny dog communicating as best it can for them to bog right off.

You get hands coming in from every angle to touch them. They get picked up by strangers. Every displacement and appeasement signal is ignored. But still when they start barking or growling or showing teeth, it’s funny for some reason.

Small dogs may have a privilege when it comes to being able to be picked up, and people are less judgy about them having a meltdown. But big dogs have the privilege that people actually might listen.

Are you worried about the upcoming XL Bully ban? Do you have a dog that is an XL Bully or you think they may fit the criteria for one?

We are a group of dog professionals who want to try and help people navigate this new legislation. We're working to understand and interpret these new rules and the changes they may mean for you and your dog. This includes help with things like:

- Helping you figure out if your dog may meet the criteria
- Checking their microchip is up to date
- Having the right equipment, muzzle & harness fitting
- How to introduce your dog to a muzzle
- Basic training tips
- An overview of the new law and the key dates involved

We are providing this session free of charge to try and answer any questions you may have. However, we are not legal experts, we are sharing our opinion and interpretation of the government guidance.

No ID or proof of dog breed will be required, reach out if you have any questions.

Hello!

I thought it about time that I reintroduced myself 👋

I’m Freya, a certified dog trainer through the academy. And that’s Gracey, my nervy Rommie rescue.

When I was younger I had always wanted to work with animals, but had never been shown it could be a viable career. So I went and got an office job, that I never really put my whole heart into.

Fast forward to lockdown and I (naively) brought a Romanian rescue dog into my London flat… and I realised how important good training advice was.

After trying a few trainers and not quite feeling like I found anyone who knew the “sixth floor flat with a reactive dog” vibe, I decided to embark on my own educational journey!

And here we are.

I aim to help anyone who needs it, but I especially love the misunderstood dog, the new rescue, or the first time puppy parents. That’s a lie. I love it all.

Here for the qu**rs, the misfits and the brain spicy people. I see ya.

I’m still learning, growing, and adapting. Always will be.

Overseas rescue dogs are incredibly popular in the UK. Whether due to the adopters being turned down by local rescues, knowing other dogs from the same shelter, welfare concerns in the foreign country, or simply wanting to rescue from overseas.

It’s super important to note that overseas rescue dogs, especially those from Eastern Europe, often come with unique traits. From genetic predisposition to nervousness, to trauma related fear, to needing specific accommodations and sensitivity within training. These are dogs that thrive on positive reinforcement, gentle handling and listening to their communication.

I have a huge love for rescue dogs, my own Gracey is an ex-free roaming dog. Which is why I will be taking extra studies in working with these beautiful creatures.
