The study, by Panthera, a nonprofit that specializes in conserving wild cats, found that leopards in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve hunted at least 40 species, including poultry and juvenile giraffes. Leopards hauled half of the prey they killed up trees, and those hauled up trees were 67 percent less likely to be stolen. However, about one-fifth of the prey killed by leopards is taken by other predators, including spotted hyenas, lions and even other male leopards.
