We are excited to announce our upcoming RHDV-2 Vaccine clinics!

On Saturday, February 22nd & Saturday, March 15th at our new clinic space in Westford, MA we will be vaccinating your buns agains the viral Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease.

If your rabbit has received an initial vaccination series within the last 18 months (2 vaccines administered 3 weeks apart) then they will only require 1 vaccine this year as a booster. If your rabbit has never received the RHDV-2 vaccine, they must come to BOTH clinic dates to complete an initial vaccination series.

Vaccines are $50/dose payable to Exotic Pet Mobile Vet at the time of your visit.

Vaccinating your rabbit against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV-2) is strongly recommended to protect them from this highly contagious and fatal disease. RHDV-2 can spread through direct contact with infected rabbits, contaminated surfaces, food, water, or even carried on clothing and shoes, making it a significant risk for both indoor and outdoor rabbits. Vaccination is a safe and effective way to provide immunity, helping to prevent the rapid spread of the virus and protect the rabbit community as a whole. By vaccinating your rabbit, you are taking a proactive step in ensuring their health and safety, while also contributing to the efforts to control and mitigate this serious threat.

We’re proud to be partnering with House Rabbit Network to offer these lower cost vaccine clinics 💜🐰

Massachusetts has just authorized administration of the RHDV2 Vaccine to rabbits - and House Rabbit Network has you covered!

RHDV is fatal to bunnies and currently does not have a treatment. House rabbits are at risk as the virus is persistent and stays in the environment on a multitude of surfaces (including greens, shoes, hay, etc.) With confirmed cases of RHDV rapidly spreading through the states, using proper disinfectants/employing bio-secure routines AND vaccinating your rabbits is how to keep them safe.

The vaccine is safe and effective. In fact, Medgene reports that in a clinical study, 100% of the rabbits with the vaccine survived when introduced to the live virus strain of RHDV2. Rabbits as young as 7 weeks are able to be vaccinated as well as pregnant does. "The vaccine should be fully protective 14 days after the second vaccine booster, which would be 35 days after the first dose."

Over 100 Massachusetts rabbits vaccinated against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV2)!! This weekend we had an absolute blast teaming up with House Rabbit Network (HRN) to run a vaccine clinic and “bunny spa day” grooming at their shelter. HRN did an amazing job organizing this event, and we were blown away by the number of dedicated HRN volunteers that came out to help with the event. Protecting rabbits and offering owners a lower cost vaccine alternative…all while raising money for House Rabbit Network. A win for everyone 🐰🙌🏻

We get to do it all again in 3 weeks for the booster dose 🤪

We wanted to share this awesome example of a tortoise enclosure that one of our clients built! This bachelorette pad is home to Russian Tortoise “Me-Shell” (get it 😂). Things we love about this set up:

✅ Lots of room to roam and no glass walls

✅ A large basking area that includes multiple heat lights and a correct T5 UVB bulb (Arcadia 12% T5)

✅ A large soaking dish of water

✅ Lots of covered hides on the cool side

We realize not everyone has the room to do a set up like this in their home, but it’s a great example of a home made tortoise enclosure that works really well. Hats off to Me-Shell’s owner 🙌🏻🙌🏻💜🐢
