I am right there with you! My little ones are 1,3.5 and 9 right now and oh boy do I feel streeeeeetched thin. Add in dogs that need cared for, a business to run, a marriage that needs nurturing post post partum, a house that needs managed and relationships outside of that home too, it can feel like there isn’t enough time in the day.
I’ve poured my education, experience and pure empathy into this course to help you navigate life with preschool kiddos and your dog. This course continues to cover how to keep everyone safe and happy but also starts to integrate how to crest the environment for those amazing bonds we would all like our kiddos and dogs to have.
There is a special one time only discount for this first round of classes. Enrolment is $125(tax included) but you will get a $25 return as a thank you once you complete a feedback questionnaire and submit a google review.

Inspired by post showing honesty and self compassion for parents and dog trainers alike.
We can’t do better till we know better.
In 2022 I graduated from both the Karen Pryor Academy and as a Family Paw Parent Educator.
I wish I would have taken these before becoming a step mom or having my first baby.
The difference between how we allowed the first two kids (when they were younger) in our family to interact with dogs vs how we now let our three kids now is crazy. And it’s thanks to knowing better.
I was the parent that wanted the cute dog and baby photos, till I knew more and instead wanted to keep everyone safe.
So I show these before and after photos for many reasons:
To promote empathy towards those that haven’t learnt better yet
To show what safe vs not safe interactions look like between kids and dogs
To remind people that change is possible
To show that even dog trainers get it wrong sometimes

I want my kids to grow up being the best advocate for not only our dogs but for all animals.
I want my kids to care for their animals better than every generation before them.
I want my kids to understand more about animal behaviour so that they can be more compassionate towards the animals they care for.
I want my kids to respect animals’ boundaries.
How am I going to accomplish this kind of teaching for my kids? By modelling it myself for them. They learn more by what I do than what I say.

What is a Walk n Train?
It’s where I (a certified R+ trainer) happily takes your pooch out for a stroll to work on some skills that can make walking your dog on your own more enjoyable for both.

I have dogs.
I have young kids (3 under 10 years old).
I am a dog trainer and breeder.
So it makes sense why I live and breathe dog and kid safety.
But just because you don’t have young kids doesn’t mean that you don’t have to be aware of what is safe practices and what are not.
Every person whether they are:
-like me and have both young kids and dogs or
-someone that just has dogs or
-a parent with only young kids to look after and
-even the person with no kids or dogs
should be helping each new generation become more dog aware!

This is the prime time to learn the basics of positive reinforcement training and how to properly socialize your pooch (cause spoiler alert it’s not just letting them play with as many other dogs as you can!)

The class runs same time and day for 6 weeks. Each class is 50 minutes.
Level one is perfect for dogs 5 months+ and the guardians who are looking to dive right into the basics and how they can use them to make daily life easier.

This isn’t dog related (other than a couple pups cameo). This isn’t child related (other than the fact that that tarp shed used to house most of the kids seasonal toys). This isn’t educational related. Expect that it kinda is related to all those things cause it’s life right. In life (with dogs, and kids and f**king Mother Nature, or whatever else you’ve got on your plate) there is so much outside of our control. This tarp shed has been a love hate relationship for the past 3 years. It did its job being good additional storage for all the things. But it’s broken on multiple occasions, it’s taken repairs and customer service emails to get replacement pieces. And finally last night with the storm it took flight (it took down our gate too but somehow didn’t smash my Jeep that was parked LITERALLY next to the tree🫣) Could we have prevented this? Nope. Do we still need to find a solution? Yup. (ahem multiple, like how are we gonna get that down and to the dump, what are we going to do for storage in the short term and long term) If this had of happened a few months ago it probably would have tainted my day (or week). But I’ve been listening to Burnout by Emily + Amelia Nagoski and learning lots about stress. So today? I danced it out. My (self declared) terrible dancing helped me complete the stress response cycle so it no longer could linger in my body and wreak havoc. So what stress do you need to dance out of your body? Is it your new puppy’s separation anxiety diagnosis? Is it your seemingly never ending need for baby gates because your toddler won’t leave your senior dog alone? Is it Mother Nature where you live too? Whatever your stress is, move it out of your body. Oh and if you’ve taken the time to read this full caption thanks! Reinforcement drives behaviour. Period. This is the same for both behaviours favoured by humans AND disliked by humans. I feel guilty all the time for not having more time for the dogs these days. I feel spread thin to cover all the areas of life that need covered. I miss the undivided attention I used to be able to give the dogs. I now rely on these small moments of connection. Like when my toddler is in the bath tub in front of me, baby is contently laying beside my and Kyra finds her way to the bathroom cause she knows I will be not moving from my spot on the ground. She knows she can get some extra snuggles during this time. I cherish this now. If you are a parent in the thick of little ones while trying to balance everything. I see you. I am you.
