EDITED:
This load was sanitized well and often!!

However ...
Please brush up on your Covid guidelines before your next test!! Loads must be placed on a table or chair and be “self serve” by the handler, NOT handed back and forth. 🤦‍♀️

Between dogs, the load must we wiped down along with anything else the handler touches (like the movable, for example).

Kudos 🙌 for both humans being masked-up 😷 when in close proximity! 👍

Please check you guidelines for hosting a safe test!

I promise, one day this page will be about the joys of drafting with our dogs!
For now, we must announce two more cancellations ☹️

Both Potomac Valley and NorCal elected to skip 2020. Both are held at the homes of some very generous Berner lovers and felt this year was not to be.

In happier news, Oregon has a new site so be sure to check the premium (once available).

There are still tests scheduled so be sure to get the latest on our club calendar page!

Unfortunately Texas has cancelled their November tests. The club members didn’t feel that they could have the judges fly when they themselves aren’t comfortable with flying. We understand and respect the club members for this difficult decision.

There are still some clubs planning to hold tests in the fall and hopefully the parks they plan to hold their tests at will be open.

The DWC is finalizing the Covid-19 Protocols to be used, in addition to the county the test is in, for any BMDCA draft tests.

25/06/2020

We regret to announce that the Michigan tests are canceled for this fall. However, the DWC is meeting with the chairs and secretaries of the tests still on the schedule to go over our Covid guidelines for hosting a safe and happy test!

If you have not yet been invited to the July 1 Zoom call, please contact Susan VanOcker to get on the invite :)

Bummed to announce that Nashoba has elected to cancel their fall test.

While we do our best to keep the calendar updated online, do check with the secretary before sending your entry in!

SPRING TEST UPDATE 3/30/20:
It is with a sag in our shoulders that we are announcing the Spring draft tests will be canceled. This impacts Hampton Roads, Rockies, Illinois, Iowa, and Oregon tests, some of which have already been canceled. No decision has yet been made regarding the July Arizona test.

The BMDCA DWC Co-Chairs have taken into account the expanding shelter-in-place orders, as well as the travel required to attend tests. We feel this decision is in the best interest and safety of judges, organizers, and entrants.

We’re all in this together and look forward to seeing everyone in the fall. Until then, stay healthy and get out with your dogs!

SPRING TEST UPDATE: As the DWC continues to evaluate the impact of COVID-19, we have decided to cancel the April draft tests. This impacts Hampton Roads, SoCal and Rockies tests.
We took into consideration the health and safety of all involved especially when so many must travel to compete or judge. While disappointing, we felt it was the right choice.
The Rockies club will likely rescheduled its test for May 9-10 and Hampton Roads is also trying to reschedule for that weekend but is also tentative.
Please contact the respective secretaries and chairs with questions.
Please be patient while premiums are updated and everyone involved works diligently to respond to these changes. There is a lot of stress on the system right now!

As many of you are seeing on Facebook, our beloved National Specialty has been canceled for May with the intent to reschedule for September 13-20 🤞🤞

Two things. 1) The specialty team is already working to secure our draft site for September! and 2) If you have a draft test slated for September 13-20 (plus or minus), Jennifer Brightbill, will be reaching out as we may need to move your weekend. By a quick scan, I think this impacts 3 tests.

Stay tuned. Stay Calm. And Wash your hands! 🤲

‼️ANNOUNCEMENT‼️
For those that might not have seen this in the BMDCA Bulletin, Julie Bacon is now the co-chair for the DWC. In addition to being very capable in all areas, Julie was willing to take some of the work load. We work very well together and she’s been helping “in the back ground” for quite some time now.

You’re already seeing her contribution in this FB page. Thanks to Julie we have this great new site for communication!

Please welcome Julie as the co-chair of the BMDCA DWC!

14/03/2020

In light of the recent COVID-19 the DWC felt it necessary to address the upcoming spring draft test schedule. We want to provide everyone included - clubs, judges, exhibitors - enough latitude to do what’s best while taking into account any federal, state, local, and venue restrictions.

Clubs should feel empowered to decide whether or not to hold approved tests and should abide by any and all federal, state, local, and venue restrictions. So far, draft tests are smaller than restrictions posed, however some venues may cancel events. If the club needs to change dates or location, or make other changes, they must first contact at least one of the DWC co-chairs (Jennifer Brightbill or Julie Bacon). If clubs must cancel, an approved representative must contact each entrant personally.

Judges should feel empowered to decide whether or not to travel to draft test assignments. If a judge must cancel, they need to contact both the club and at least one of DWC co-chairs (Jennifer Brightbill or Julie Bacon) preferably before close of entries so a replacement judge may be identified.

Exhibitors should use their judgement when entering and exhibiting at a test. If an exhibitor decides to pull, they may do so up to five (5) days before with a full refund of entry fees. However, because clubs will have incurred expenses (judge travel, rentals, etc.), exhibitors are encouraged (but not required) to forgo the refund and consider it a donation to the club.

These guidelines shall be revised as new information becomes available and posted to this page.

1. Do you know what needs to be on a Weight Certificate (WC) for it to be valid?
2. Do you know the end result for submitting a WC that doesn’t have all the required information?

Answers:
1.
a. On the BMDCA Draft Test Weight Certificate Form (with clinic stamp showing clinic name, address and phone number).
OR
b. On the Vet Clinic's Letterhead w/name, address, AND phone number
All weight certificates must contain the following:
• Dog's name (call name)
• Owner/handler name
• Date dog was weighed
• Name/job title/signature of vet employee witnessing weight
• Date form was signed
NOTE: The date the form was PRINTED does NOT meet the requirement of being the date the dog was weighed.

2. The end result is that the entry wasn’t valid and no passing scores will be awarded to the dog.
NOTE: You and only you are responsible for having a valid entry. The secretary is never responsible for checking that you did everything required.
