It has been a long held dream of mine to preserve the traditional style Pekingese. I have owned and raised Pekingese most of my life and have even shown them. Over the years I noticed that they've begun to disappear, the original Peke replaced by the modern Pekingese. Registration papers stripped by breeder, believing they were unworthy stock. To me, they are anything but. When I read books about Pekingese, I notice the character doesn't match the Chinese culture. The Pekingese is a highly intelligent and responsive dog. It is on par with the Papillon if not more intelligent and obedient. It looks distinguishedly different from the modern Pekingese, which is short and stout with a long main and a stubborn temperment. The traditional Pekingese is the opposite. So I have provided a club to preserve, promote and seperate the Traditional Pekingese from it's modern counterpart and vie for breed recognition like the American vs Japanese Akita and the Australian and Working Kelpie. The Traditional Peke is distinct from the modern in both phenotype and temperment. It would be a shame to loose them. We do provide registration for $2. Open registration will begin soon, to recapture those dogs that were stripped of their papers through limited registration and the like as the fancy favored the dogs with the longer coats. Above us in the cover photo are two Pekingese from CRUFTS!!! in 1930. That is when the traditional Pekingese was considered show quality. It is my hope they will be considered show quality again with fine temperments, easy care coats, and reduced health issues.
