Happy Hondo - "Tail" of a Shelter Dog Happy Hondo - aka Your Royal Handsomeness

Hoping to share some joy from my first foster (and fail) and remind people there is every type of dog at a shelter.

Adopt one of the millions of animals who need a home.

They are friends, and they love each other. 🥰
The black-neck dog (Husky) lives in a house down the road. Every day he escapes from his yard to go down the street to visit his little friend and play with him. But when the entrance was closed, he just came, hugged his friend tight, and left, but never tried to cross that fence.
And we call them just animals.

Hondo is my first foster - Hoping to share some joy and remind people there is every type of dog at a shelter. Adopt one of the millions of animals who need a home.

I have been a large dog owner my whole life. I still learn so much volunteering at a local shelter. Dogs are so resilient and full of love no matter how they come to us...Also, shelter volunteers are some of the most dedicated, hardworking and loving people you can find.

Hondo came to us and was fearful and confused. He was a bit scary but he was really just scared himself. Never aggressive to anyone (just a good pretender). With a potential adopter ready to go, he went to the vet to get fixed and we got the bad news. Like so many dogs he was going to need lots of care. He was heartworm and Lyme disease positive. 😔.

I was privileged to be his foster mom through months of unpleasant treatment. Of course as he got better, I just couldn't let him go.. (look at that handsome boy) 🥰 Yep, foster fail. So here's the rest of his story...
