Hey Puppy Parents! You’re not alone!!! Yesterday I asked my followers to tell me their biggest challenge of puppyhood. Swipe and see the responses along with breeds of each puppy.

This is just part one! A lot of my puppy owners ask me “is this normal?” “Is she the worst puppy you’ve ever seen?” The answer is most likely NO!

Raising a puppy can be hard and I’m here to help❤️

Meet “ Big Mo and Little Mo” !

Momo (left) is 11 years old and came to me today for some issues regarding reactivity around his owners. These bad habits started when he was just 8 months old after his family rescued him from a rough situation.

His family was worried these behaviors stemmed from the abuse he endured as a puppy, especially around men and loud words. They have a huge heart for rescue dogs and tried their best to make sure he felt comfortable with lots of affection, treats, and lots of freedom.

Although those things may sound like great ways to make your dog feel safe to an average dog owner, it may actually do the opposite.

Momo started to feel like he had too much responsibility. Dogs do not live in the past and hold grudges. They move forward. We need to do the same to help Momo feel better.

Momos owners decided to leave the past behind and start taking some responsibility back and giving him more rules, boundaries, and direction instead. These things will take so much responsibility and decision making power off of Momos back so he can finally relax and start to build new habits.

I can’t wait to see them again in a few weeks!

3 Reasons I love Pack Walking…

1. It keeps all of the dogs moving together, exerting physical and mental energy.

2. It provides bonding time for me and the pack, migrating in a pack is natural to dogs and fulfills that instinct.

3. It gives me an opportunity to further clarify the leader/follower relationship with the dogs.

⭐️Bonus: it’s a great challenge! I love picking multiple dogs with different energies and creating one mutual energy… calm!

The first day of handling Jerry I was a little nervous to be infront of so many amazing trainers. I defaulted to using exercises I was extremely familiar and comfortable with. Him ( along with ) were a great reminder that not every exercise works the same for every dog.

Once Jerry showed me that my first plan of action was not what he needed, I decided to tune out the nerves, forget the ego, and just let him show me what to do next. The minute I did this, I felt so much more confident in what I was doing. I saw Jerry change from overstimulated and in need of clear direction, to a much calmer dog during our sessions.

and Jerry reminded that I am confident as long as I’m listening to the dog. This experience at Learn to Lead is something I will carry with me forever. It will be a constant reminder of why I love what I do so much. It forces me to be real and truthful with myself and the dog and then teach a client how to do the same thing. This field creates not only better dogs, but better humans.

So thankful for Learn to Lead for not only teaching me life lessons but introducing me to so many beautiful handlers and skilled trainers.❤️
