Rye has started her new life with her new family! We will miss this sweet little girl and her very adorable personality, but we are so happy she went to a home where another one of our beloved dogs also lives! Congrats to the Doetch's on another very special Straight Creek Llewellin!

This is a post about friends who have some of our dogs and also have a love for llewellins like so many of us do. Please take the time to read this post and share! If you feel you can help, I know these folks would be forever grateful. It's a long one, but its worth your time. God bless.

Our son Will was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer to the liver in October of 2021 at age 27. Our prayers for him are that he gets his life back, and it will take just one person to help make that possible. After countless visits to some of the best providers and hospitals in the country, Will’s doctors believe a live liver transplant will be what saves his life. A transplant will be what gets him to experience all the things one does in their 30’s. It’s what will help him get back to normal enjoying life with family and friends, living in California back in San Diego working again.

This will only be possible with the help of a selfless person willing to donate a portion of their liver. A person can donate a portion of their liver and shortly thereafter the liver regenerates and returns to normal size. And as well for Will the donated portion/lobe of the liver grows to the size he needs to live!!



There are a few qualifications that will make a candidate more likely to be a match for Will including:

1. Blood type O or A, (only about 20% of people have the right type of A blood) (+/- does not matter for liver transplant)

2. Age 18 - 55

3. Be in very good general health with no significant medical or psychiatric problems

We were recently introduced to Elanco's Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody (CPMA). This is a breakthrough treatment to fight parvo, and we are so excited about it! This is a treatment for dogs who have contracted this terrifying virus, as well as a preventative treatment for puppies to gain greater protection. If given to litters at 30 days or soon after, this treatment is capable of greatly boosting these pups immune systems and offering protection like never before! This new treatment, along with our normal puppy vaccination schedule and standard cleaning procedures already in place, is what we at Straight Creek Llewellins will be incorporating into our breeding program. All current and future litters will have this treatment. Parvo is devastating, and until a puppy is fully vaccinated they are at risk. This treatment is a game changer! We will continue to follow the progress on this treatment and new updates we hear of will be posted in an effort to share with all of you how to protect your pup. Parvovirus is estimated to affect more than 300,000 puppies a year,(1) yet only 44% of dog owners are aware of the disease and its symptoms(2). While vaccination is the cornerstone to disease prevention, here are three additional steps we'll focus pet owner educational efforts on this parvo season:
1️⃣ Know the signs and symptoms of parvo and how it spreads. Parvo is easily spread through f***s or even on shoes. If your dog is refusing to eat, is vomiting, has diarrhea or lethargy, call your veterinarian and get them checked for parvo.
2️⃣ If your dog tests positive for parvo, ask your veterinarian about Elanco’s Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody, the first and only USDA conditionally approved targeted treatment for parvo that may help puppies feel better faster and get home sooner.

Mia is heading off to Sunny Florida to be an amazing bird dog with our good buddy Daniel at Stoutamire Llewellins! This is Daniel's 4th Straight Creek Llewellin and he is doing some awesome things with this line. We are super excited to see what the future bring as Daniel fine tones his breeding and hunting program! He's a solid guy so look him up and book some hunts with him in Florida!
