Lincoln and Harper go home today! Lincoln is getting some last-minute practice on his "place" command, and Harper just likes to hang out with her bro.

"Place" is one of my FAVORITE commands. Lincoln can sit, stand, or lie down on his 'place,' as long as he keeps two paws on it. His place can be a raised cot, a comfy bed, or even just a blanket like you see here. He can even chew a bone or take a nap on his place.

A good Place command is a great substitute for a crate when you need your dog out of the way, but still want them around. Some people use Place at dinner time, or when guests come over.

Puppies can be a handful! Bo has been tightening up his obedience commands and learning a few new things, as well. A big part of Board and Trains is just teaching dogs to be good company in the house - not barking, chewing our stuff, jumping on counters, etc. So while puppies can be a lot of work, I can help you enjoy having them around by making it easier to communicate your expectations to them ❤

It takes a village.

My lovely neighbor Susan and her superstar Australian Cattle Dog, Clyde, helped Lincoln on his walk yesterday. While Lincoln prefers to pull and bark when he sees dogs on walks, he's quickly learning that ignoring them is actually a pretty good deal 😎 Look at that smile!

Because Lincoln cannot yet manage his excitement, it's crucial to manage his exposure to stressful situations like this. Here we used a combination of distance (across the street), obedience commands (heel and sit), and repetition (walking back and forth) to create a more controlled experience and achieve success!
