Great news!
Two of the three puppies I found whilst broken down in Greece have found a loving home in Germany ...
The sad news is this leaves the third puppy alone in the shelter. This is a dangerous place for him! If ANYONE can help please let me know
His name is Balou
He’s fully vaccinated
He’s looking to be medium sized silky haired
He’s 4 months old (2 and a bit in this photo)
He’s got the most stunning amber eyes! Will try and find a better photo

The plan is that he can be brought to the UK or Belgium in January

I'll be updating the page with photo's of the doggo's asap.

I am leaving Greece today but I wish to continue to support this Shelter and it’s fantastic volunteers.

I arrived in this area and spent an afternoon exploring the area by bicycle. Along the ride through miles of fenced in fields full of fruit trees I spot four puppies huddled in the grass!
Of course I had to stop to have a cuddle!
I was very concerned, not only was mum nowhere to be seen but the puppies where dangerously close to the road!
I began calling around to every shelter I could find the name of but unfortunately everywhere was just too full to take them.
I didn’t want to give up.
Mum showed up, and was the most gentle beautiful girl.
I made several trips to Lidl for dog food and stayed camping beside the puppies for the next few nights, being eaten by mosquitos and spending sleepless nights worrying if they’d still be there in the morning.
After one trip into town for food I returned to my worst fear. One of the puppies had been killed on the road.
I redoubled my efforts to find a safe place for them and eventually, through a UK run Greek animal rescue I was informed of a nearby shelter.

I must say, on arrival I wondered if I was doing the right thing. Being used to UK standards of kennels I was worried by the tumbledown nature of the place.
But soon I met many of the volunteers and was reassured. Everyone has the dogs best interests at heart and are working with what they have to try and give them every chance.

Work is being undertaken to improve the living conditions at the shelter but things are really not ideal.

I really hope I can be of some help with finding homes for some of these lovely animals.

The Dream of a Better life....

All the dogs shown on this page are homeless, many have suffered and all of them deserve the chance for a better life. In fact the exact location of the shelter is not widely known, as it is already full past capacity and we do not wish to invite more people to dump their animals or attempt to sabotage the shelters efforts.

This shelter is run entirely by volunteers and gains very little support by local council or residents. Unfortunately the life of the average stray dog in Greece is a miserable one and often short. Many of these tumble down shelters have popped up all over the country, created by caring individuals that desperately want to see improvement in the welfare of these animals.

What we hope to do here is share the faces of those that have been abandoned and hope that somebody wants to invite a waggy tail into the warmth of their home and really change a life.
