Domesticated rabbits are even more dependent on us than cats and dogs as they are prey animals. Setting them free is like throwing a 4 year old out of your house. Will they find food? Yes but not the right food. Will they be safe and warm? No (Your bun will likely end up caught by a predator or develop a health problem and die) If you or anyone you know is thinking of releasing your rabbit into the wild, please contact us. We will help find them a new and safe home. 🐰

🎉🎉🎉 Cookie has been rehomed 🎉🎉🎉
It's a very melancholy day here at RRI as Cookie settles into her new nosey parker spot with Tammy and her family in Co. Cavan. 🥰
Cookie has been with me for a year now (with a short break at Christmas thanks to Ally) as she battled 'Snuffles', a congestive condition caused by her short snout and the bacteria Pastuerella. Thankfully 🤞🏻 this is now under control and Tammy will be keeping it under wraps with the help of her vet.
I hope that through this journey, Cookie has taught us that Rabbits are delicate and complicated creatures that need specific care and attention. 🐰
Good luck Tammy with this little diva 😂

I have seen lots of questions in the groups the last few days about whether getting a second rabbit is a good idea - as you may know I run The Rabbit Rooms Small Animal Boarding and offer Ireland's only Bunny Bonding Service, and bond approx 20 pairs and trios a year so I have the answers to all your burning questions! I am thinking of building a LIVE MASTERCLASS WITH QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION on this topic - would that be of interest to you?

Tis the 2nd outside day of 2021 here at RRI HQ 🌞🐰🐰😺
As fun as it is to get everyone outside into the fresh air with the binkies, I just want to remind you to keep an eye when your other pets are around. I love my 3 cats and I love dogs too even tho I don't have any but I'm very aware that rabbits are prey animals. Supervison is key for both sides. I have seen it go both ways especially if your bun is territorial (Penney, the black and white bun, knows she's the boss and will chase the cats for sport). But it can work out once everyone has their own space and knows that you as the human is boss (do ye hear me Penney 😅)

Looking for a 5 star forever home for gorgeous boy Alfie. He is 6 months old. He is so sweet and social and tame . He is like a puppy he follows you around the house all day. He is not neutered. He is so social its important he has a rabbit friend in the near future. (he will need to be neutered first no matter what s*x his new friend is) He is looking for a loving home, someone who is settled and has experience with rabbits and / or has done research and knows what's truly involved in caring for a rabbit. As there is alot involved. He needs to be indoors around people and free roaming most of the day. He is generally only caged at night time. He wants a home with someone who can give him the time, space and love he deserves. He is based in Dublin, but possibly also can be homed from Galway. Home check is essential. This can be done over video. Cage and some accessories can be provided.

A little leveret (baby hare), found alone in a locked glass house. A little dehydrated and on the weak side but otherwise OK.

He will stay here until he is fit and strong and ready to go back to the wild.

As cute as these are, we advise against keeping rabbits and guinea pigs together as:

👉 They have different needs (e.g. dietary).
Unlike rabbits, guinea pigs cannot synthesise vitamin C which must be provided adequately within their diet.
👉 Rabbits may injure guinea pigs (intentionally or unintentionally), by kicking them with their powerful back legs or trying to mate with them (this could injure the guinea pig's back).
👉 Rabbits may bully guinea pigs, which can make them stressed if they cannot get away.
👉 The bacteria, Bordetella bronchiseptica, is the most common cause of respiratory disease in guinea pigs. Rabbits, cats and dogs can carry this bacteria which can pass to guinea pigs and cause disease. Therefore, guinea pigs shouldn't be housed with rabbits, and should be kept away from dogs and cats.
👉 Rabbits behave and communicate in very different ways to guinea pigs, so if kept together they won't understand each other's behaviour and therefore do not make ideal companions.

So our wonderful foster bun Cookie is still with us and going from strength to strength! Very different news from the last update 🤓

She got to see Vet Julian in Palmerstown Veterinary Hospital last week and she totally charmed him ✨🐰✨

Her prognosis is great and she's putting on weight - has me eaten out of house and home!! But that's the point and now I have been approached by a very kind lady who is hopefully going to give

Cookie an inside home (as opposed to a shed) and lots of loving over Christmas. 👏 Then all going well, a furever home in the new year! 🤞

Thanks again to everyone that donated towards her medical bills, I seriously couldn't have done this without you ❤️

Rabbits can be a great addition to any garden but remember they will ideally need to hide indoors or in a shed during the winter months so prepare for an indoor setup when you're introducing your new friend to the family 😊

Check our Hunny in her new home! 🍃
Hunny was surrendered to us by an owner who didn't receive very much info from the pet shop at all. Currently the Department of Agriculture allows pet shops to sell animals at the age of only 6 weeks!! We are hoping to do something change this in the future as poor buns need to stay with their mothers until they are at least 8 weeks so ensure good development to set them up for life. But thankfully Hunny is now with an owner who adores her and is going to live a long and happy life 🐰 1 down...how many to go?? 🙈

Gandalf and Snoopy are beginning to enjoy some outdoor time where they can munch on some fresh dandelion leaves and practice their rabbity skills....

Galdalf (6) still prefers the comfort of her cuddly bed and a roof over her head but Snoopy (3) is quite happy to spend a few hours a day doing zoomies and excavating and landscaping 😅

Gandalf is a very laid back lady who likes a quiet life....
Her coat requirements are a little bit more than your average rabbit... but thankfully she enjoys her pampering and we avoid any loose bedding which makes brushing easier...

Snoopy is looking for a home where he can be king!

He is not phased by other animals and is slowly coming around to the kids in his foster home once they respect his boundaries and never attempt to lift him.....

While Gandalf and Snoopy are super social and very friendly when they get to know you

They are not "Cuddly".....

they like the majority of rabbits prefer to have their feet firmly on the ground....

They will sit next to you and once he knows you Snoopy will even come when he is called...

We feel a home with older or no children would be best for this pair as they are large and could potentially injure a young child who didn't understand their boundaries....

Snoopy and Gandalf have lived with other rabbits so could potentially live with another rabbit once it is neutered... but time and patience are required when bonding rabbits....
