The Garlic is planted!
I'm in Maryland, zone 7b and it's recommended that right before frost is the best time to plant your garlic.

You want to plant each clove 2-3 inches deep, 4-6 inches apart. I prepared my soil by adding bone meal, blood meal, and pot ash a few days ago and mixed it up really good. I'll add some more blood meal (nitrogen) in a few weeks before I cover the space with mulch.

My Jamaican Sorrel has finally forming its calyx!!!! imma get a harvest this year!!!

no lie, I was kinda worried that the weather would get cold too fast.

info break! Jamaican Sorrel (roselle hibiscus) is rich in antioxidants, fiber, vitamin C, and magnesium. Great for boosting your immune system & fighting off cooties!

An Experience I recently Had in the Garden... Livy took great joy in laughing at me inhaling bread & water.

I effed around and found out

I tried eating one of the peppers off the bush - cause it wasn't fully ripe yet,

that BISH IS HAWT!!!

I ate it like a G tho... & then a couple minutes later, my stomach was like "the fawk was that?!?" and then my tongue was like "GIMMIE ICE"

I let a cold tomato sit on my tongue to calm the burn...

Ok, so listen... After Making the hot sauce, I saved the puree & dehydrated it to make a seasoning -

1st lesson: Open the windows before grinding down hot peppers.... I think i've coughed up everything

2nd Lesson: BEST BASE FOR SEASON-ALL EVER!!! (i added some salt, garlic powder, and dried basil & it is DELICIOUS)

so i'm thinking... if i concentrate the type of peppers instead of putting them all into one pot, the flavors of the peppers will "shine" more
OK! hot sauce experiment; a success!

these are herb Strippers. I know you've seen em in the herbalist shops, the tea shops, and anyone who is growing herbs on a regular basis needs one, cause pulling the leaves off each individual stem is MURDA!

OK! so you've started your garden and you've noticed that the leaves on your plants have started to change to a color other than green (& it's not supposed to do that) here's how you can put some of the nutrients back into the soil:

Calcium - crush some eggshells & allow them to soak in Vinegar for about a week. strain the mixture & put 1 table spoon per gallon water into the soil (i made a batch last year that's going to last all of this season). it's water soluble calcium that the plants can take in right away. (great for tomatoes to defend against disease & blossom end rot)

Potassium: Banana peel water - helps plants Take up nutrients

Nitrogen: Coffee Grounds - promotes lost of green growth

Phosphate: Sprinkle Bone Meal around the base of the plant - promotes blossoming and fruit production.

Magnesium: Sprinkle Epsom Salt around the base of the plant - helps the seeds germinate better & helps with photosynthesis

YO! Hardening your plants for outside isn't for the weak... this takes a level of commitment that i didn't know was required. (i have a lot of seedlings & a lot of stairs)

Reference: Hardening your plants is when you take the seedlings outside for a few hours each day & then bring them back in in the evening for about a week or two so they get used to the sunlight without burning.
