Duncrest Stables After a lifetime of working with horses, I discovered this amazing breed - the Norwegian Fjord Horse.

Surprisingly agile and athletic, gentle and safe under saddle or in harness, small enough for children and sturdy enough for adults!

Love these boys! Uncle Del (3 yr old gelding), Kriger (1 yr old stallion), and Torolf (1 yr old gelding).

Thorson wants to thank Dr. Jeannine DeLuca and vet assistant, Brianna Stewart, for taking such good care of him while he was unwell and for getting to the root of the problem, and for convincing his human that he still has a life worth living! His person says thanks too!

Thanks to everyone at AVC for taking such good care of my boy! (Well...he's a little less of a boy now!) He can now look forward to his retirement years!

Thursday night I had time to sit and watch the set over a lush patch of clover where, on Tuesday evening, I had to lay to rest the best Flord mare I will likely ever own. Trollius was a Dutch import that Kathy Monroe was able to acquire for breeding. I was lucky enough to adopt her and, at the age of 22, she blessed me with one last foal, perhaps her best, by A2Z Thorson.
Unfortunately, she had difficulties birthing Duncrest's Dellingr. My vet advised that I was lucky she managed to get Del out and survive. I was happy to retire her as a great example of a quality Fjord Horse and give visitors the opportunity to enjoy her as a working Fjord. But, Trollius never quite bounced back from her traumatic foaling. Her teeth were also worn. Digestive problems ensued.
On Tuesday, I found her in distress and called in my vet. She had an infection in her gut and was burping up her stomach contents. She was suffering and although we might have gotten through this episode, as we did a previous one, it was clear there was something wrong inside that could not be fixed, so this would not be the end of her problems.
Trollius gave us so much. She was an exceptional driving horse, a wonderful broodmare, and great friend to all who spent time with her. As I began covering her body over with the dirt I had dug to give her a grave, a very old horse shoe surfaced in front of me. I think it was a sign that the spirits of all the hardworking horses that had gone before her had now welcomed her on the other side. I buried the old shoe with her. Rest in peace my sweet girl.

Duncrest's Torolf helping with grooming or sweeping up! He's 3 months old and displaying beautiful primitive markings, just like mama, Perle. Love that he inherited her dark colouring!

First attempt at fancy cut manes. Trollius and Tarja were not very cooperatve. Every time we'd have the scissors lined up to make a cut they would toss there heads, so a few oopsies, but overall not bad!

Wallace Point Farm offers WPF Mogenshagen - 6 year old 13.1 hh gelding - trained for riding - would make a lovely hunter/jumper or event horse. He is also well suited for harness work - his mother was a terrific driving horse. Sire - A2Z Thorson; Dam - Trollius (imported from Holland). Mo is very sweet, great temperment and quiet. Looking for a great new home for this special guy. Currently is located here at Duncrest. Please contact us if you have any questions.
