So happy for this guy! He fell into the right hands. I love humans ❤️
Witness the happiness! Momma and daughter were saved today from euthanasia. It’s amazing what a network of dedicated, amazing people can do in a matter of hours.
Back in #newmexico. Beautiful!!
Just back home from another 5-dog transport. Was supposed to be 8 furry friends going to their rescue, but it just didn’t work out that way. But hey, have to be grateful but the ones we did help. We had to leave a day early in order to beat the winter storm that hit Iowa. And it worked! We beat the storm on the way to drop them off at the Jackson County Humane Society in Iowa and took it nice and slow on the way home. Winter has been challenging, yet kind, to us ❤️
Here is a simple way to teach a dog not to jump; even one as hyper as Chance, here. Chance was abandoned by his owner and left at the pound because he was too excitable and jumped too much. If we share this simple dog training technique, maybe more dogs like Chance will not be deemed “hopeless” or “untrainable.” Also, #Chance barely survived the Euthanasia list for a SECOND time, is currently boarding at @cosmosdogrescue and is looking for a forever home. We have transport available to anywhere in the continental U.S. and are ready to drive him wherever he can find a loving family that will work with him and never give up on him again. Share this to give Chance faith in #humanity again! ❤️🐶

#Chance is here! Here is his story:
Chance was originally picked up as a stray by animal control. He stayed in there for weeks. When his time was up and he was next on the list to be killed, a member of the community stepped up saying she would adopt him, but she didn’t have a ride to pick him up, money for dog food, or money for vetting. This didn’t sound like an ideal situation, but it was either this or death. The following months meant a small group of people that worked together with taking this dog all over the county to get him vetted FOR his new mom and family, and taking over food when it was needed. A few months passed, and Chance ended up in the shelter again. His new “mom” gave up on him. He was too high energy for her and her small children. As we scrambled to figure something out for Chance, it got down to his last day… again. And now he’s here, at @cosmosdogrescue. He awaits his destination rescue or adopter. He's fully vetted, and he has transport to wherever he can go so that he can be loved.
He jumps, he’s a brute, and he doesn’t realize how big and strong he is. Even so, he doesn’t deserve what has happened to him. Chance is a sweet boy with nothing but love to give. He needs attention and training, which we’ve already started to give him. Note that he has already begun to learn not to jump on people for attention, but to go up nicely and ask for pets.
This is a common reality, but as I’m sure we’re all learning thanks to the miracle of the INTERNET, there is no such thing as a bad dog. They need to be trained. They don’t come in off the streets understanding the rules of your house. You need to show them, and they’re happy to listen if it means they get your love in exchange. 💯
I find this to be healthiest way for these dogs to be: interacting with each, learning how to play, how to do things as part of a pack. What I have found is that even if a dog is too scared of me to let me go in for pets whenever I want, a dog will still take to another dog, and they can help each other heal. 💚
