If you find a young tawny owl on the ground, do not move it unless it's injured or its life is in danger but please do contact us for help and advice. They are generally able to climb back up to the nest and are fed and watched by mum. However unfortunately this is not the case for all...

We are all screaming out for volunteers, if you would like to get involved in volunteering then please get in touch.

Excuse the bad photo but I couldn't multi task releasing and filming. But do you remember the little owl from June that came in covered with sticky residue, within a week it was strong and flying well enough and was successfully released where other little owls had been spotted.

Last night we welcomed this little owl into our care after it was seen multiple times throughout the day on its own, in places it shouldn't have been with no sign of any nest or parents.

It arrived very weak and extremely hungry, covered in a very sticky substance. It's was a careful process to remove the residue without damaging its natural oils but it has been responding well to the fluids and food

Did you know....

Each individual bird of prey, that comes into our care for a duration of time, longer than a couple days of restbite, gets a registered identification split ring applied so that of they are ever found by someone, we will be notified by the company.

This means that if a vet ever needed to provide treatment they would be able to get a background history aswell.

What an amazing difference just 10 days can make!
Olive is continuing to thrive and is a great little character, who definitely make it known when it's time for food.

This is Tiny, she was found at Muncaster Castle, She was very unwell and numerous occasions I thought that she wasn’t going to make it. But despite being half the size of a normal sparrow nestling when she came in and being touch and go for days on end, she fought through and look at her now! She’s doing absolutely amazing, she still requires regular hand feeds as it takes some time for them to learn how to eat on their own. She also has a best friend, another little sparrow that is roughly the same age as her, they spend all day perching next to one another talking and fluttering around their pen 💖

Picked up this little baby from Millom this morning. Teaspoon in picture for size reference, so tiny! He was stone cold and barely breathing. It’s sibling had already passed away sadly.
I gently warmed him up using the heat from my hands and breath for 20-30 minuets until transferring him onto a heat pack (heating them up too quickly can put their body’s into shock and ultimately kill them, so it’s a slow process) and off to work he went with me. Looks like they must have been predated out of the nest.
He’s having little feeds very often and already started on a course of antibiotics for puncture wounds. Fingers crossed little one makes it 🤞🏻
Please if you find any little baby nestlings that don’t have feathers keep them warm, safe and contact us as soon as possible.

Based in Cumbria, Willows is a non-profitable organisation ran by a team of dedicated volunteers, which help to rescue, rehabilitate and nurture wildlife in the local area.
We help transfer the injured/sick to vets for treatment if the public can not do so. Rehabilitate injured or orphaned wildlife. Rescue wildlife from dangerous situations where they could be trapped.
Providing care and support to wildlife until ready to be released back into the wild. Willow's Wildlife Rescue members take pride in replicating the individual species natural diets as close as possible.
We accept and appreciate all donations, and are constantly looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our expanding team.

This tiny little owlet Olive had quite the adventure a couple days ago and found itself along way from home. But it is safe and now thriving with us thanks to Colin W Parker Ltd. Who found this tiny one in a hay bale that had come all the way from Lincolnshire and kept it alive overnight before it came to us the following morning im a Yorkshire tea box.
Just look how cute and small it is

Yesterday was a busy day for us, we had this little Tawny come in to us for somewhere save to rest and recover after a dose of pain relief and antibiotics at the vets.

This poor little guy got attacked by a group of crows and with being too young to fly unfortunately couldn't defend itself or get away.

What a brilliant sight, Twiglet our first Tawny of the year is perching and is starting to look even more amazing. He has now developed the sill of holding his food and ripping it apart himself rather than being fed small pieces.

So happy with his progress so far.

We now have 6 gull chicks in our care, and it looks like there will be alot more as the season progresses. We almost have a gull chick waiting list...

We desperately need some more volunteers who would be willing to help with our wildlife care.

If you have any extra wet cat or dog food, or even tins of tuna spare they would be greatly appreciated as these little guys eat!

Just look at the difference in the size of Biscuit.
The first photo is from when a lovely member of thr public found him and took him in. The second is just 2 weeks later when he arrived with us.

He's such a chirpy chick, with a BIG appetite....

Yesterday both ourselves and CWR were contacted by different people about a poor little tawny owl that had been found almost on a putting green at a local caravan site.

Fortunately the finders made contact just in time as they saved its life. When we reached it, it was very week and dehydrated, and wouldnt take any food, after a long night and day, it is starting to perk up abit so hopefully this is us heading in the right direction.

Do you have any old AstroTurf offcuts spare?
We are desperately needing some pieces.
