Course Analysis Of TEAM JUMPERS Sunday 2/8/2020. While I liked this course, I liked Fancy Jumpers, just a little more. This course did, however, had more choices about handling and some choices were better. In the course, I specifically looked at choices made at the weaves (2 >3) and choices made at the number 7 tunnel, and the number 12 tunnel, which happened to be the same obstacle.
1. Successful choices from 2 > 3. For the most part, it worked better for handlers to have dog on right at the end of the poles. Rear cross at the poles, or a serp to a blind at 2, allowing the handler to blind cross the weaves. Teams that pushed around the end of the poles had trouble getting far enough ahead and some dogs didn't have that skill.
2. The sequence from 6 >8. The most popular choice was to front cross after 6, and do a forward send to the tunnel and then go around the exit. The most successful teams had a longer forward send and were able to show the dog a tight turn out of the tunnel. There were some near collisions if the handler got to close to #7 before sending.
3. The most successful choice for the sequence 11-13, consisted of a Rear Cross or a threadle cue with independent tunnels. Handlers also were able to forward send to the tunnel and stay to the right of the tunnel and meet the dog at the exit.
All in all, successful teams had skills of independent weave poles (including rear cross skills), and independent tunnel sends or threadle cues.
Success rate:
Performance: 2/9 Q'd, with 2 clean runs and 2 runs with 5 faults each.
Championship: 5/18 Q'd with 5 clean runs and 3 runs with 5 faults and 1 run with time faults.
Most faults were REFUSALS.
