This week I have another house-cat in training. In other words a formerly feral cat that has been in care for way too long, and needs a patient carer to help him complete his trust in and love for humans. This absolutely beautiful possible Main C**n cat is Apollo.
He is approximately 3 years old, and in great health. He was trapped from a colony and could not be released after neutering because his beautiful long fur was constantly matted and was causing discomfort. Loose in our protected shelter area, he is not encountering the burrs and other items he did on the streets. He keeps his gorgeous coat absolutely spotless and is very happy in the company of other cats.
He is elusive, and comes out for feeding and some play activities but will not likely ever be a lap cat.
Apollo would benefit from a home with 1 or 2 other calm cats that will accept him and a family that is prepared to wait as long as it takes for him to adopt them.
An outdoor catio would be a wonderful bonus that would allow this beautiful boy to check out the sun, and changing seasons with no danger or fear of matting. Your other cats will love it too. I know mine zoom in and out all day long, and are very sad when winter shuts it down.
Never let Apollo outside without restraint. His wild instincts will take over and he will be gone! Back to the dangers of the streets. He deserves better than that!

Foster homes are the backbone of rescue. Please consider fostering, if your situation allows.

This is what I do with Animals First. We don’t talk about how to help and whose gonna help we just get going with the helping animals get spayed and neutered and vaccinated. Bonus is we help the people who love these pets at the same time. It is stressful not being able to afford to get the needed vetting for your fur babies. We have helped thousands of animals and our goal is to provide a low cost clinic the best way we can in this area. We have 2 clinic runs in November we could use help for so if you would like to sponsor the vetting of an abandoned animal please call or text 705-650-2378 or etransfer to [email protected] use password wehelp

This is truly what Animals First is all about. Not just a shelter, but determined to spay and neuter as many area dogs and cats that we possibly can, by providing access to low cost spay and neuter clinics. People who can afford it are urged to use the services of our local veterinary teams. They are wonderful, but have high overheads and can't be expected to reduce costs.
A low-cost spay neuter clinic, even one per month covering 30 animals approximately would be wonderful. But space is needed, as well as personnel. This costs more than we can do by ourselves. If you are able to consider an endowment, or bequest it would go a long way towards helping us set up this necessary service.
Donations can be sent to [email protected] or text Roxanne at 705-650-2378 for other options. Thank You in advance!
