Thank you to everyone who came to visit us at SPCA's Pawesome Pawty 😄 and HUGE thank you to SPCA for having us 😌

We hope we managed to educate more people on the distress and discomfort that our animals experience when confined in a cage for prolong periods of time. We've seen cases where the animal never leaves these cages for months on end 😣 These are actual cages sold commercially in pet stores and can also be purchased online as well. Can you imagine eating, sleeping, p*eing and pooping in a space thats barely big enough to stretch your limbs? 😿

We were heartened to see so many people of all ages come and experience the cages, as well as take home memories with our selfie frame pledging kindness to stray animals 🐕🐈

Let's continue to push for more empathy and kindness towards our animals. To push for better welfare and be the voice that our animals need us to be. ✊✊

Hoorayyyy 🎉🥳🎊 The last of our two Disney brothers have been adopted 😻😻 Goofy and Pluto were rescued under our TNRM programme from a factory in the industrial estate that we feed every week. They were from a Mama cat's first batch of litters 😿 Since being rescued 6 months ago, they have both been through a few adoption drives and many more adoptions enquiries that eventually fall-through, but their patience have paid off and they have finally found their new forever home together 🏡

Thank you to Max and Siau Xi for opening your home and your heart to these two lovely boys 😌 We know you'll be fantastic pawrents to your new furkids 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

Doing another appeal for The Stray Affairs as there was no response. The food is delivered to foreign workers who feed the cats on a daily basis. This ensures they have nutrition and to stay healthy. This month, we will send the food in memory of Ruby.

A glimpse into our weekly stray feeding 🐕🐈

Every Saturday, our dedicated team of volunteers head to one of Singapore's industrial estates to feed the stray dogs and cats living in the area. The time, effort and resources required to successfully plan and conduct each feeding session is no small feat, and wouldn't be possible without the hard-work of our volunteers and generosity of donors.

Not included in these photos are our food donors, who purchase, cook and deliver the food that you see in the photos to us. They too deserve tremendous recognition 💪

Each week we need 5 Drivers with Cars and 5 volunteers to ensure we cover all 150 dogs and 90 cats under our care. And lately our volunteer numbers are dropping 😢

We hope these photos would inspire more people to volunteer or donate so we can continue doing what we do for the strays 🐶🐱 We hope these photos will give you an idea of the dangerous and harsh conditions that these strays call home.

Find out how you can support us through our website www.thestrayaffairs.com (link available in bio).

We are raising food for The Stray Affairs
This month the food will be sent in memory of Ruby.
The food is given to foreign workers who help to feed daily. They also keep a look out in case the cats are sick.
Giving the cats good quality food is the first line of defense to prevent them from falling sick. The food appeal response has not been good but if everyone can support just 1 bag of food, the collective effort can be big! Please support at: https://ahasg.com/Support_Stray_affair.html

[Brownie Junior]

Yesterday Val, one of the migrant worker feeders, alerted us that his factory cat Brownie Junior was not feeling well. He informed us that Brownie was not interested in his food, was lethargic and was unable to control his p*e when he walks. We immediately took him to the vet the next day.

Brownie was a very good boy at the vet, and was curious about everything in the consult room. We ran some blood test, urine test etc. All his parameters turned out good, FIV/FeLV negative as well. However the vet did note that his urine sample did show possible inflammation of his bladder. As such the vet has prescribed him some anti-inflammatory medication.

As Brownie did not need to be hospitalised, we have released him back to Val later that night. Val was so happy to see his boy come back and will be administering his medications and keeping us informed of his condition.

Lets wish Brownie Junior a sp*edy recovery 🐈😻

We are appealing for donations to cover the cost of $489.33 for Brownie's vet visit 🙏 If you would like to donate, head on bit.ly/mondontsa for the donation form.

Thank you on behalf of Val, Brownie Junior and all of us at The Stray Affairs ☺️

Today is World Feral Cat Day 🐈‍⬛. Today is a day about understanding that not all stray cats are able to live in the same home environment as us humans. Some cats are unable to be handled by humans and may hiss at us when we approach, otherwise known as feral. It's a day about understanding that some stray cats thrive better when given the chance to roam-freely, and us humans being able to appreciate the difference between an indoor and outdoor cat. Therefore in a dense urban country like Singapore, some inevitably becoming our community cats 🐈.

With the rise of community animal abuse cases. It's time for us to start pushing for more tolerance towards stray and community animals. It's time to educate and spread more awareness of community animals. It's time to unite animal lovers across the island and say "Enough is Enough". It's time to start pushing law makers for harsher penalties. It's time to make any animal abusers think thrice before acting. It's time for things to change ✊.

It's with deepest and extreme sadness we announce the death of Bobby.

We were in absolute shock when we got the news. Bobby was in the middle of his Babesia treatment. We did a blood test for him just a few days before he passed, and the values were improving, the Babesia count was going down and appetite was good. The video of him eating was taken the night he passed. The next morning when the staff came to check on Bobby, he has unfortunately passed in his sleep :( We were all hopeful that he would find his forever home soon and bless whoever was lucky enough to adopt him.

The very first time we encountered Bobby on the streets, which was this quarter 4 years ago, he was a shy and skittish boy that we referred to as the "tailless dog" cos of his stumpy tail. And after feeding him every weekend for the last 4 years, Bobby's cremation was difficult for all of our volunteers. We shared memories about how he always disturb the cats in his factory and he always ask for second serving :') . Bobby has since been cremated, and his ashes scattered into the sea so he may run free from the sufferings of being a stray.

Before we took him in, we tried very hard to convince his factory to let us neuter him but they refused, according to the worker they wanted his aggression to be a guard dog. Bobby was no guard dog, every time we come with food, he approaches us wagging his tailless butt. Over the years we persistently convince them to let us sterilise him, not just for population management, but to mitigate any health issues that comes with leaving a dog unsterilised. And as we feared, Bobby suffered a hormonal imbalance which led to an enlarged prostate. Only then did the factory allowed us to take him in. While Bobby was still in treatment, we spoke to his factory to find out his medical history. We were disappointed yet not surprised when the worker told us in 9 years he's never been to the vet.

We are now appealing for funds to ease the cost of Bobby's treatment of $7504.06. If you would like to donate, you can do so via our website (link in bio).

Bobby's passing will not be for nothing. It's time to put our foot down when pushing for stray animal welfare.

This is the response we get everytime we ask factory workers or bosses if we can help find their dog a home, a nice, clean and most importantly safe environment that it can live out the rest of its years. Would you want your personal pets living and running around a construction site? Often time when they turn us down, we try to respect the factory’s wishes, in blind faith that they would indeed love and care for their factory dog. Then few years down the road, the factory vacates and abandon the dog, that they claim to love, behind. Just like Alex in this photo.

It puts feeders like us in an impossible situation. Firstly, the abandoned factory is now locked, we cannot get in and the dog cannot get out. If anything happens to the dog inside the factory, how are we suppose to attend to him? Secondly, it‘s harder to re-home a dog thats now older, and if we can get to them, they probably have a slew of health conditions that accumulated since young having never gone to a vet. All these health conditions have to be treated before they can be put up for adoption. Thirdly, when they are past the socialisation stage, it makes the rehabilitation to a home environment a hundred times harder. Some may never ever get accustomed to a human’s touch and will probably end up living the rest of their lives in a shelter‘s kennel, which begs the question of would it then be better to leave them in their own free roaming environment?

Wouldn't a safe and sanitary home environment to grow up in be ideal for all strays?

[Update on Bobby Part IV]

Continuing from our last update on Bobby; After surgery at specialist Beecroft, Bobby has been transferred to our GP for his recovery. Despite Bobby's surgical site recovery going well, the vet notices that he is still in a lot of pain and he has fever that comes and goes. This has been going on for a couple of days and the GP vet was worried that it could be a result of something else. Unable to do a full diagnosis at their clinic, they recommended going back to the specialist at Beecroft to get a diagnosis confirmed.

We then arranged to have Bobby sent back to Beecroft via an animal ambulance to make sure we do not cause him more discomfort during the transport process. After running a full physical and blood tests, the specialist discovered the following few issues:

1. Babesia positive resulting in Anaemia. As Babesia requires a specialised test, only the anaemia was detected when we first brought him in, which the first GP suspected that it was a result of his prostatic abscess.

2. Spinal Inflammation. We are not sure how this came about as he did not present any spinal pain when we first took him in. In order to properly diagnose and treat this, Bobby would require a CT under GA, but this can only be done after his anaemia is resolved to lower the risk of complications of GA.

After getting the diagnosis and the medication for treatment at Beecroft, we had to bring him back to our GP for medical boarding and to complete the treatment as we financially can't afford Beecroft's hospitalisation rate long-term.

We can tell Bobby hates being warded, and we wish so badly for him to go to a home environment soon. He spent most of the time asleep but lights up when our volunteers or the nurses keeps him company and pet his head. The GP nurses has given him a cute stuffed toy to keep him company ❤ Bobby's recovery has been difficult as road blocks keep showing up, but we're not giving up.

We are appealing for funds to help ease the bills at Beecroft. If you'd like to donate, you can do so through the link bit.ly/mondontsa or via our website. We thank you on behalf of our volunteers, and on behalf of Bobby 🙏

Is this safe?

Commercial vehicles travelling back and forth, the air, the ground filled with dust and rubble. Heavy machinery rumbling away.

Some time strays accidentally wander into these factories while sniffing on the ground for scraps, not knowing that they've put themselves in such a dangerous situation. As feeders we know, the best hiding places where strays feel the safest, are often the most dangerous places. i.e. Big factories, with tight corners, lots of hiding spaces behind heavy machinery, or inside manholes and confined spaces. But we also know, one mishap and they find themselves in the bottom of a ditch or run over by a truck.

Will the workers ever notice a stray dying in the corner of their factory? If so, will they care? If they're missing for weeks, will feeders ever be allowed in to look for them?

In our TNRM last weekend, we sent a total of 6 Cats in for sterilisation. All of them are kindly looked after by the different workers in their respective factories. 1 of them however was still too young to be sterilised but fortunately an independent rehomer has taken in the cat to help find him/her a nice home.

If you'd like to support our work, do consider donating to us via our website (Link in Bio) 🙏
