My goal is to breed healthy and mentally sound dogs capable of performing any task, while preserving the essence of the kelpie breed. I put a lot of planning, research and consideration into each pairing and that's why my litters are few and far apart. The puppies are raised in a home environment, following Puppy Culture protocols to ensure they get the best possible start in life. And as adults,

they thrive in any activity their owners decide to do with them (mostly agility, but also nose work and on occasion SAR/tracking or sheep herding).

When you ask a border collie to do something he happily complies and says ‘what next?’ When you ask a kelpie to do something he considers your request and says ‘what for?’ An explanation is often required!

Generalisations of course, but Kelpies are independent thinking dogs. We bred them that way.
We needed dogs here in Australia to work the wild merinos in huge unfenced paddocks on sheep that didn’t get handled much.

We needed dogs to cope with the heat, the burrs, and the big distances.

We needed dogs that could be left with stock and continue to work. Dogs that could be sent out to find stock and work without instruction. The kelpie is that dog.

The evolution has continued with the need for dogs to work cattle, work in the yards, to load and unload trucks, to back In the raceways. The kelpie did that.

Independent thinking dogs, tough enough for Australian conditions and versatile enough to work paddocks, yards, cattle, sheep and even blowfly’s if you needed it.

Consider that when your kelpie argues or thinks he can do it better, when he questions your request.

Consider that when he’s one step ahead of you or knows a job so well you are just in the way.

We ask a lot of our kelpie and they are different to many other breeds, but if you understand their thinking and he understands what you’re asking a kelpie is a compliant and very trainable dog.

Training a kelpie is just a little different and sometimes, without you knowing it, it’s the kelpie who’s training you!

OneD is a very special dog for me. I initially didn't plan on keeping her, but she decided at 6 weeks old she will be my dog and no other human will ever be her human. She was the easiest puppy I've ever had. Happy and playful, but without the "stupidity" that usually comes with puppies - she always had a very mature way of thinking and behaving. She has nice drive, will work for toys or food equally. She has had some training in agility, but she has her own way of doing things and can't be rushed or forced into doing something. So with her I put more emphasis on breeding than on competitive sports (agility). She absolutely loves activities that let her use her brain in a more free manner. I think she would do great in activities such as nosework, but I haven't yet had time to try training her in that. She is the type of dog that chooses who is worthy of her attention and affection. This means she is indifferent to most people. She doesn't mind them, but she's not the type to run up and be friends with just any random person. With children she's super sweet and gentle and smart, just like she is with puppies. She never cared much about dogs outside of our pack (she will ignore other dogs). She doesn't chase after cars, bikes, joggers, cats, wild rabbits, deer, birds... She's not afraid of loud noises (fireworks, thunder, traffic...).

A few words about Morris by his owner:
"Morris is very strong minded and stable. Lots of ability to work in any way. Strong with sheep and very natural in herding. In agility really fast and easy to train. He really loves agility! Our prior 1 work is search and rescue and Morris just past the final test this month. Our goal is to get official permission to work for Police and other rescue groups. This final test from Police will be next spring, so now we are training for that! Morris has been very indepedent, from the beginnig. And strong in mind. In agility there hasn't been any signs of "freezing"mode or other kelpie "stuff". He loves toys and food."

I chose Morris for his exquisite working ability and strong mind. I've always liked Bamba Pop and the pups he produced, so his grandson Morris seemed like a very logical choice for OneD. To bring" crazy" to her "calm" and make some versatile kick-ass pups.

A very talented SAR dog from Finland, soon also to be certified to assist the police when needed, agility grade 1 with a lot of potential, naturally talented and confident around sheep with an easy-going, but strong personality.
