poodle patterns
merle is not a color or pattern that is naturally occurring in poodles
solid - one color throughout the poodle’s entire coat
phantom - pattern is characterized by its placement on the dog’s rear, front of rear legs, front legs and chest, face, and over its eyes
parti - characterized by around 50-75% white with various patches of one color scattered around the dog
brindle - a base color with a lighter and darker “stripe-like” pattern
sable - the hair on the poodle has black/dark tips, typically the color fades and becomes less intense throughout the dog’s life
abstract - majority of the poodle is one color with a small white patch on it, typically on the chest, a foot, or the dog’s chin
