SoCal Mustangs Mustang Heritage Foundation TIP Trainer getting our American Mustangs into great homes!

Today Shane was my shadow so I took a chance n hopped on 🥰. Our first ba****ck w/t. He really has a chill personality but also lets you know when he’s feeling salty 😂 Our first trot and I love it! That moment right before you ask them to trot under you for the first time can be very “well this will either go great! Or surprise me.” So being ready for the “surprise” is top priority 😂

Mr. Shane, Poncho, Gustavo, Vinny, Remi worked on his feet being roped and leading by them (rope burns build character 😂 and remind me to wear gloves), turn pressure and ground driving 🥳 It’s not pretty and def not perfect but it’s a start. I learn so much with each mustang. I’m not a big treat person but today felt like he needed it.

This boy has been with me since the end of July and it’s been so nice taking our time with each day, milestone and building trust. Today he saddled right up for his first time. I did it just like he was a seasoned trail horse and did NOT slowly bring the blanket to his back nor the saddle, cinched both front and back cinches with zero fuss then W/T and a few canter steps in it, even with the buoys! Ground driving starts this week I’m hoping.

It’s not about the trick, it’s about the steps that lead up to it, trust, communication and patience.

Meet Mr No Name from Fog Hog HMA. Standing about 14.1 and growing, 4 years old and gorgeous Dun with the primitive dorsal stripe and tiger stripes to boot 🥰. He’s been with me 2 months now and since he’s not in a TIP challenge like my others, we are taking it slower. I’ll post some progress pics and videos this week. I love his spook factor as it’s very minimal! Throw down some names below for this calm pretty boy 🐴
