Did some off leash training this week. Definitely my favorite training because the puppies have so much fun with it.

This is session 2 of attention/distraction training. You first teach the puppy to give eye contact, then hold eye contact for longer amounts of time and then eventually add distractions and have the puppy hold eye contact even with distractions. At this point, we can only get about 2 second of duration. This training is helpful for those wanting to continue with formal training and not have their puppy get distracted by their surroundings.

We had a successful puppy party! Thank you to everyone who helped. I got too busy during the party to actually show any of the training obstacles we did but the play party at the end was great!

First car ride for the puppies. To keep it from being a scary experience, we sprayed some adaptil and kept the ride short (also because it was hot). They did awesome. I also love seeing people's faces as they see 9 little great dane puppies follow me out to the car!

After 11 hours of labor through the night, we are all exhausted. Luckily all puppies were alive and appear to be healthy, although we have one tiny runt girl that only weighs 13 oz we need to keep an eye on (all the others were around 1lb 6 oz). The final count is 2 blue boys, 1 blue girl, 1 harlequin male, 1 blue harlequin male, 2 harlequin females, 1 blue merle female, and 1 black boy. I'll post individual pictures later... I'm just too exhausted right now.
