This is a Page created in memory of Jorge, on Aug 17, 2020, he was at Aloha Pet daycare, this facility does not allow collars. I had only been with them a short time and they had just opened earlier that year. I received a call from the owner that Jorge and Lexi, my other Great Dane had gotten out of the facility. When I arrived I was told that they tried to move them both through the building with no-slip leads on them. Lexi went down a different hallway and jumped up on an outside door with a push handle and got out. The staff grabbed Jorge but when an additional staff came to find out what had was going on and she went out the same door and at that time Jorge broke free and ran after Lexi. They were able to get Lexi back in the building.
There was a massive search by so many people but after being seen a few times that evening, Jorge was not seen again till 3 days later when we were notified that he was in a ditch off of a highway where he had been hit by a vehicle. My husband and I with the help of friends were able to recover him for cremation, so we could bring him home forever. This was such an unnecessary tragedy for Jorge to have to suffer that we vowed to do whatever we could the help educate others on the importance of securing your pets at all times. Jorge was such a laid-back, loving dog that I never would have thought he would run away, but he was so scared that he did.
